Dell is an industry giant when it comes to manufacturing laptops with interesting specifications. It is no wonder that their XPS line of laptops continues to shine every year. It is also partly based on this background glory that this year’s version of the Dell XPS 13 has come to fill the hearts of many.
The Dell XPS 13 is another bezel-less laptop that we’ll be reviewing today. So, tighten your seatbelts and join me in the ride.
Design
One thing that most consumers love about premium laptops is their great design. The XPS 13 has undergone multiple makeovers through the years, and this year’s iteration is highly inspiring with its resplendent beauty and light weight. However, don’t be fooled by the looks of this device, it packs some really powerful internals in it – more on this later.
This year’s revision of the XPS 13 weighs 1.21 kg on the scales and is really thin at 0.46 inches. This means that you get a lighter and thinner chassis against last year’s version.
Display
Next, we go on to the screen on the XPS 13. As with previous versions of this laptop, the display size is 13.3-inch wide diagonally. The almost bezel-less InfinityEdge display means that you get a somewhat borderless viewing experience. While the base configuration comes with a 1080p panel, there is a pricier Ultra HD one with a touchscreen that is also sharper.

Beneath the display is a 720p webcam with 4 array digital microphones for video chatting and photo capturing. The camera was situated here because of the reduced top bezel – similar to what you find on tri-bezel-less smartphones.
Keyboard and Touchpad
Since this is a super-slim laptop, the keys are a bit reduced. Nonetheless, the keyboard is still great for everyday typing.
The 41 x 2.4-inch touchpad is seamlessly conjoined with the rest of the laptop. The clickable buttons on the touchpad are sort of hidden with only a dividing line telling their locations.
Performance
The Dell XPS 13 comes in different configurations. While both variants come with an 8th gen quad core CPU – the high-end model uses the Intel Core i7-8850U that is clocked at 1.8GHz but can go up to 4.0GHz. This powerful processor is backed by an integrated GPU, the Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 16 gigs of DDR3 RAM. The base model uses a Core i5-8250U in combination with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD.
Another great feature on this laptop is the high capacity SSD. The 1TB PCIe storage unit means that you get a drive with fast writing and reading speeds.

What is a powerful system without some good cooling structure? The cooling system on the Dell XPS 13 uses a thermal setup with two fans, dual heat pipes, and thermal insulation to prevent overheating.
Battery Life
Shedding off some skin from a laptop means that you may need to shed off some battery too. Unlike the 60Whr battery found on the XPS 13 9360, the 9370 uses a lower 52Whr battery that gives an average of about 8 to 9 hours of usage.
Connectivity Options
For connectivity, the Dell XPS 13 is equipped with three type-C USB ports (with two of them supporting Thunderbolt 3), a headphone jack and a microSD card slot. Dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 are also available for wireless connections.
Pricing and Availability
The base model with a 1080p display is cheaper at about $1300, while the better variant starts at $2500. Both configurations are available on most online stores as well as offline stores worldwide.
