Apple starts running iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1, with HomeKit crash fix

Less than two weeks after Apple urgently released iOS 11.2, the company began running 11.2.1 versions of the iOS and TVOS operating systems. Although it does not apply significant changes, the new edition brings bug fixes discovered since the previous release.

The only change reported in an official note by ‘Apple’ was the repair of security vulnerabilities in HomeKit. According to the company bulletin, during the crash, “a remote attacker could unexpectedly change the state of the application”. Therefore, the manufacturer had to correct a messaging management problem, for improved input validation.

The same bug related to devising protection is present in the security bulletins for both iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1. Apple did not disclose any further significant improvement in its report.

The update is available for iPhone 5S or higher, iPad Air 2 or newer, and sixth generation iPod Touch, in the case of iOS; already for tvOS, the fourth and fifth generation of Apple TV can download the latest update. It is available through OTA via the Device Settings application.

It is worth remembering that this week, ‘Maçã’ also released the first Beta Developer for MacOS 10.13.3, about a week after the final release of MacOS High Sierra 10.3.2.
