The ASUS ZenFone Selfie is a re-mastered variant of the noteworthy ASUS ZenFone 2. ASUS ZenFone Selfie is designed primarily for selfie shots and to deliver fair performance while offering a great battery life. ZenFone Selfie came into existence when the word of sefies frequently starts to become the order of the day and when smartphones front-facing cameras start improving dramatically in recent years. It is ready to snap selfies any moment with just a quick swipe. Just draw an “S” on the display then smile and shoot.
The upper midrange smartphone adds a more impressive, premium look to the already-awesome specifications of the ZenFone 2. Unlike ASUS ZenFone 2, the ZenFone Selfie performance is reduced.
Display and Camera
The Asus ZenFone Selfie just like the ZenFone 2 sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive multi-touch display, but with Gorilla Glass 4 which is the latest ingenious creation from the world-renowned Corning. ZenFone Selfie’s Gorilla Glass 4 display offers twice (2X) the drop-damage resistance of its predecessor, 2.5X increase in retained strength and is 85% less likely to break in daily use — making it safer and stronger than ever before.
It is capable of providing a maximum resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD) and has a pixel density of 403 ppi that renders every image in eye-delighting detail; and with ASUS TruVivid technology built in, ZenFone Selfie brings color to life in brilliant clarity, excellent viewing angles and gives you a perfect visibility even under the direct sunlight.
The ZenFone Selfie smartphone impresses you with its cameras. It is equipped with a 13MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash. The camera can shoot Full HD videos at 30fps. It comes handy with great features like Face detection, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR) and Touch to focus.
Another exciting feature in this phablet is its 13MP front facing camera which is also equipped with a LED flash. The front f/2.2 camera makes up for the loss with a wide 88-degree field of view, thus making it easier for group selfies (“wefies”), and can take the selfie experience to a higher platform.
Configuration
ASUS ZenFone Selfie runs Android v5.0 Lollipop OS, which is coated with ASUS’s ZenUI skin. It is expected to be made available in two storage options – 16GB and 32GB, with storage space expandable by up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The phone gives supports for dual SIM cards.
ZenFone Selfie features the industry’s first octa-core, 64-bit processor — Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 (1.7GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A53 + 1.0GHz quad-coreA53). The smartphone is available in two RAM variants – 2GB and 3GB LPDDR3 fast memory coupled together for superb performance and superior power-efficiency.
Battery and Connectivity
The smartphone is fuelled by a 3,000mAh Li-Polymer battery. Connectivity options available in the smartphone are – microUSB, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with Wi-Fi Direct and Hotspot. Zenfone Selfie handset features GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.
Pricing and availability
ASUS Zenfone Selfie is not available in Nigeria. ASUS does not currently offer phones in Nigeria so the availability of this phone in the country is in doubt. If and when available, ASUS Zenfone Selfie Price in Nigeria is expected at around N39,000 to N55,000.
