There is now a category for rugged smartphones with amazing specs that will blow you away. These phones can survive water, dust and several falls. However, the thing is they do not usually have amazing specs like the top-end smartphone. Seems to be it is all muscle and no brain. In recent times, that has changed, rugged smartphones like the AGM X1 and  Blackview BV8000 Pro now come with amazing specs and more ruggedity which in turn tips the price on the high side a little bit.

Blackview as a smartphone company is not new to the business of making this line of smartphones. There is a very small percentage of smartphone makers that significant in this type smartphone production and Blackview is one of them. The company already has some rugged smartphone under their belt. The Blackview BV8000 Pro is their latest model in the BV series, and it looks great with an impressive number of features.

DESIGN AND DISPLAY

The Blackview BV8000 Pro has a somewhat robust, thick and heavy build which makes it ruggedity very obvious. However, the BV8000 Pro has a well designed and is one of their most well built rugged smartphone so far. Compared to the BV7000 the design of the BV8000 Pro feels more rounded and has a more modern look to it which was absent in the BV8000.

There is tiny visible screw all over the place which seems not to bother rugged smartphone makers recently has it can be seen in some other devices and in a way adds to the rugged impression when you look at it. Talking about screws, there is four screw that secures the microSD and sim card flaps. Do not worry; the device comes with a screwdriver to help you find your way around.

As expected, the device is very much on the heavy side with a weight of about 240g. Which should not be a problem when you look at the ruggedity it brings along. The Blackview BV8000 Pro has a dimension of 155 x 79 x 14mm which is on the chunkier side but bear in mind that unlike you other smartphones in the market it has a more solid build.

The Blackview BV8000 has an impressive 5-inches 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution IPS display with a 441-pixel density. This combination offers a nice colour reproduction with a vibrant display. It also features the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio screen that is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

CPU, OS AND STORAGE

On the inside, the Blackview BV8000  Pro is powered by a MediaTek MT6757 Helio P25 octacore Cortex-A53 processor that clocks at 2.6GHz alongside an ARM Mali-T880 MP2 GPU. This is also accompanied by Samsung’s LPDDR4 6GB RAM and 64 inteernal memory.

Like most recent devices the Blackview BV8000 Pro comes with an Android 7.0 with some of Blackview’s customization on top of it which adds some other functionalities.

BATTERY AND CAMERA

Powering the Blackview BV8000 Plus is a non removable 4180mAh battery which gives you about 8 hours of onscreen time depending on the usage and supports the supports quick charge.

For taking pictures, there is a 16MP rear camera from Samsung and a 16MP front camera also from Samsung at the front for taking selfies.
