Chuwi SurBook – An Upcoming Competitor To The Surface Pro 4

It seems like most Chinese manufacturers never relent in competing with Microsoft for the ultrabook/notebook laptop space. That being said, we’ll have a look at another Surface Book look-alike called the Chuwi SurBook.

As the name suggests, the SurBook is a nice alternative to Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 and at a cheaper price. Although this device is yet to be released, it is expected to be a worthy competitor to the Surface Pro 4. So let’s go into it already!

Design & Display

The Chuwi SurBook is a beautiful device coming with a 12.3-inch screen. The display resolution on this laptop is 2736 x 1824 pixels. The body of the SurBook is made of metal and comes with a built-in kickstand. There is an ultra slim backlit keyboard that can be detached from the screen.

Hardware, OS & Performance

Under the hood, there is the Intel Celeron N3450 processor running things. There’s 6GB of RAM and 128GB eMMC ROM.

There are two full sized USB 3.0 ports on the Chuwi SurBook as well as a type-C USB port.

The SurBook runs on Windows 10 OS. This should not come as a surprise given that most other cheap laptops run on the same Operating System.

Cameras

The SurBook comes with two cameras – a 2MP front-facing camera, while you’ll find a 5MP shooter at the back.

Battery

The Chuwi SurBook packs a large 10,000mAh battery with a fast 12V/2A charger. Given the screen size and the battery capacity, users should expect at least 6 hours of battery life from the SurBook.

Conclusion

Though the SurBook will have a hard time competing against Microsoft’s Surface devices, it is surely going to be an excellent alternative. If this version is too much for you – regarding screen size – there’s also going to be a “mini” version with a 10.5-inch screen, just in case.
