Citra – Nintendo 3DS Emulator becomes official on Android for free

Finally, we can play Legend Of Zelda and Pokemon on Android! Citra is considered to be one of the best Nintendo 3DS emulators for desktop and now the developers have released an official build of Citra for Android. Previously, there have been unofficial attempts to transfer the 3DS emulator to Android, due to its open-source nature. Now, becoming official on Android, Citra has become the first Nintendo 3DS emulator for the mobile platform.

The best thing is that it can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. Citra’s previous releases didn’t include all the features, but the official version offers an immersive Nintendo 3DS emulation experience, with no bugs or stability issues. The developers also published a document in which they write that previous unofficial versions acted as bottlenecks for developing an official build, rather than being a catalyst.

Compared to previous versions, the official version has several new features such as microphone support, native camera support, which allows users to enter text with the Android keyboard app during games, motion controls, and much more. . The Citra Nintendo 3DS emulator for Android is in beta, so users can rarely encounter anomalies.

You can report bugs on the Citra Discord server or on their official forum. The Android app requires minimal support for Android 8 (Oreo) and 64-bit OpenGL ES 3.2. The developers also recommend that the device have a Snapdragon 835 or higher.

While the app can run on an average-performance smartphone, users are expected to see frame jumps and other performance issues. There’s also an in-app purchase of $ 4.99 to get paid features like a dark mode and texture filter.
