Google announced some time back to bring the Freetel Ice 2 to the Nigerian Market. This they would do in collaboration with a telecommunication company, MTN. The Google Freetel Ice 2 which is made by a Japanese company comes to Nigeria as a full budget smartphone. Google is promoting ice 2 in emerging markets, some of which are Ecuador, Zambia and Ghana. Well, this smartphone is on its way to Nigeria, probably in September. But while we are, we’d be taking a ride into the spec world of the Freetel Ice 2 smartphone.

DESIGN
Coming in the white and black colour variants, the Freetel Ice 2 smartphone measures 155 x 79 x 9 mm. The Ice 2 is apparently made with a plastic build which could translate it not to be a too heavy smartphone to carry about. The same cannot be said for smartphones made with metal.
DISPLAY
Even if it is dubbed a budget device, the display size of the Ice 2 is pegged at 5.5 inches. This is with a display resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. A screen density of 267 PPI which is sure to produce very high on-screen images and icons. The screen size of the Ice 2 might need the attention of your two hands during operation for your own comfort.
PROCESSOR AND OS
A quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor is what the Ice 2 is built on. The processor speed of the Freetel Ice 2 smartphone is set at 1.2 GHz. Ice 2 comes with a graphics processor – ARM Mali 400. The smartphone runs on an Android operating system and does NOT support the 4G LTE network.
INTERNAL STORAGE AND RAM
For your storage of music, videos, documents and other files, the Ice 2 avails users with an 8 GB internal storage. This storage space can be expanded to the tune of 32 GB with the use of a micro SD card. The micro SD card has a dedicated slot for it. Taking care of the smooth running of applications on the Freetel Ice 2 is a 1 GB RAM. You really did not expect more than that from a “budget smartphone”, did you?
CAMERA
On its rear, the Ice 2 sports a 5 MP camera. This camera comes with autofocus, and LED flash. While on its front is a 2 MP camera.
BATTERY
As its powerhouse, the Freetel Ice 2 packs a Lithium-Ion 2800 mAh. Despite its budget status, the Ice 2 still packs a decent battery capacity. Hence, the Ice 2 would be well suited for average smartphone users which might be the target customers after all. Heavy smartphone users might need to go for something more than that.
PRICE OF THE FREETEL ICE 2 SMARTPHONE
The price of the Freetel Ice 2 smartphone is set at N13,000. This price comes very cheaply as a result of Google’s involvement in bringing it to Nigeria. With these specs and price, we want to believe it is a very fair deal. And it would help potential smartphone users on a very low-budget.
