Google introduced the Japanese brand, Freetel into the Nigerian market with the launch of the Google Google Freetel Ice early in August. Now, the brand has carried on the mantle, launching a new smartphone, the Google Freetel Priori 4 with mouth-watering features at a low price when compared to similar smartphones in Nigeria.

Design & Display
The Freetel Priori 4 comes with a 5-inch IPS display which has an HD (1280 * 720) pixel resolution and a 294 ppi pixel density. The smartphone is designed with plastic, weighs just 167 grammes (no surprise there; plastic doesn’t weigh much) and is 9.5 millimetres thick.
It has a square design which might scare off potential users due to the difficulty associated with handling such phones, but you might care to know that the phone is a bit curved at the edges and its back panel is curved, offering easy grip.
Storage & Processor
2GB of RAM is available onboard for the phone’s quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor which can clock speeds up to 1.3GHz to operate fluidly in conjunction with a Mali T720 MP2 GPU with a speed of 600 MHz.
The smartphone also has 16GB of default internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB with an external microSD card.
Camera
The Google Freetel Priori 4 sports an 8MP camera with Autofocus and LED flash, and can record videos at a resolution of 720p (HD) at the rear, and a 5MP camera at the front for taking selfies.
Battery & Connectivity
The Priori 4 packs a whopping battery capacity of 4000mAh, which is not synonymous with its price tag. It has dual micro + nano SIM slots and supports many 4G LTE bands in the country.
It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS amongst other connectivity options. It features an array of sensors including a compass and gyroscope which makes it compatible with Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.
Software & Hardware
The Google Freetel Priori 4 runs on the company’s custom UI, Google Freetel UI which is based on version 7.0 Nougat of the Android operating system. It’s sad that the phone doesn’t possess a fingerprint scanner whose presence would have completed the awesomeness of this low-cost mid-range smartphone.
