Hisense H12 Lite Review – Camera, Design, Performance & Full Specs

Two Hisense mobile phones showed up in the month of September 2018. Now, as the month of October runs to an end, we are welcoming another Hisense smartphone. This is the Hisense H12 Lite. This device is viewed as a downgrade to the former Hisense H12.

The reason for releasing this latest ‘Lite’ version by Hisense may be to target lower income earners or youths who do not have much money to spend on a smartphone. But wait, the Hisense H12 is known for its good selfie camera. What will the latest Hisense H12 Lite be known for?

Design and Display of Hisense H12 Lite

H12 Lite design is generally a metal body device that has the dimensions of 75.58 x 155.84 x 8.1 mm. It is not a water resistant smartphone, and has no secondary display. However, it comes in blue, gold, and black colors. The variety means some buyers will prefer one color to another.

Talking about the display, Hisense H12 Lite comes in HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touch screen. Therefore, the screen size is 6.19 inches but it has a resolution of 720 x 1500 pixels. Notably, the screen has 16 million colors for perfect brilliance.

Pixel density of the device is 269 pixels per inch. Similarly, the screen to body ratio is 82.14 percent. Aspect ratio is 19:9, a multi-touch capable device, up to 10 fingers. Further, the protection found herein is 2.5D curved glass.

To the rear of H12 Lite you find a 13 MP camera f/2.2 aperture, LED flash that comes with a variety of features. The video capacity is 1080p@30fps with FHD recording. Images are good enough but could be better with a higher megapixel feature.

Features include auto focus, touch to focus, continuous shooting, digital zoom, exposure compensation, geo-tagging, HDR, panorama and the rest.

The front camera is a simple 8 MP f/2.2 aperture with scaled back features. However, Hisense is kind enough to put a flash feature here. It pales when compared with the 13 MP that lives in the Hisense H12 device.

Hardware and Software

Primarily, the Hisense H12 Lite is run on Android 8.1 Oreo and it can also upgrade its firmware to the latest Android operating system. For hardware, MediaTek MT6739 28nm chipset works hard to process things inside the device and allow for multi-tasking.

There’s also Quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU of 8-Cores. However, the architecture is 64-bit. GPU technology is PowerVR GE8100 2-Cores, which isn’t bad at all.

The device comes only in one version. There is 3GB of RAM which is not expandable and there is also 32GB internal storage which can be expanded to 128GB with the help of a microSD card.

Network and Connectivity

This device is able to handle all available internet connection types. There’s provision for 2G, 3G, and 4G in the Hisense H12 Lite. The device is able to house dual SIM card slots and any of them is able to handle the fastest internet connection LTE at the moment.

Other connectivity components include Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, microUSB 2.0, 3.5 mm audio jack, etc. However, note that this smartphone has no provision for NFC or infrared.

Batter Life

Battery power for backup is a moderate 3000 mAh Li-Po which is non-removable. This battery has nothing like wireless charging or fast charging.

Price and Availability

Price of Hisense H12 Lite is between $150 and $170 as prices differ from store to store. More importantly, the device was announced in October and also released in October 2018. Therefore, it is available for purchase.
