WhatsApp is arguably the most used social messaging platform with over a billion downloads on the google play store alone. They also have a lot of active users which I’m proudly one of. WhatsApp is my go to source for reaching out to friend and family. It’s every easy to use and has a very clean and neat interface. It also has all the necessary features I need to effectively communicate with friends and family.
Features like the PIN to Top and Video Calling. One can even call up to 3 people at once which is great for those family times. It’s safe to say that I, along with so many others spend so much time on WhatsApp and when you frequent the app a lot, it starts to get boring. It’s only normal that we can switch things a little bit by changing the wallpaper.
Now, Changing the wallpaper is perhaps the only “Modification” allow on the app. if you would like more options like change the colours and stuff like then you’ll have to go for GBWhatsApp which a modded version of the original WhatsApp that comes with a lot of features that allow you theme the app the way you want.
However, we will be focusing on changing just the wallpaper on the normal WhatsApp iOS and Android App and WhatsApp Web.
How To Change WhatsApp Chat Wallpaper On Mobile For Android & iOS
- Open the WhatsApp Application and Click on any conversation.

Now Click on the three dots at the top right and select Wallpaper from the drop-down menu.

You’ll be presented with some options like Solid Color which are just a bunch of plain colors or you can choose from your gallery. There is also an option call WhatsApp library which WhatsApp’s own wallpapers which you can download as an extension from the google play store. Lastly, you can choose Gallery to pick a picture from your gallery to be used as the wallpaper.

Choose a wallpaper source, Select a wallpaper and set it.
That’s it, you’re done. Now your WhatsApp chat background looks different from others.
How To Change WhatsApp Chat Wallpaper On WhatsApp Web
For this procedure, you would have to connect your WhatsApp account to the WhatsApp web. If you haven’t done that, see our guide here on how to do that. Now that you are connected, you can go ahead and follow the steps below
- Log On to the WhatsApp Web website.
Click on the three dots at the top right side and select settings for the drop-down menu.
Select Wallpaper and Choose a wallpaper.
Once you select a preferred wallpaper, Tap Ok to use it.
Just like that, you’ve changed your WhatsApp web chat wallpaper.

One thing i like about it the WhatsApp wallpaper is that you can use different wallpapers on your WhatsApp Application on your phone and a totally different wallpaper on the WhatsApp web.
