Changing the password on a website or app can be easy or difficult. In some cases, believe it or not, you may not even be able to do it yourself. Some websites require you to contact customer support and prove your identity before you can make changes to your account.
With Facebook, things are pretty simple. You just need to know where to look, depending on the device you are using to access the platform. This and much more will be explained to you in this article.
CHANGE THE PASSWORD ON FACEBOOK DURING ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT
Depending on the device used to access your Facebook account, the steps required to change your Facebook password will be slightly different. Here’s what you need to do for both the desktop and mobile versions of the Facebook app.
1. FOR DESKTOP USERS OF FACEBOOK
- Click the down arrow in the upper right corner of your Facebook page.
- Click on the Settings option.
- Go to Security and Login.
- Find the Change password field.
- Click the Edit button next to it.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter a new password for your account.
- Click the Save Changes button.
2. FOR FACEBOOK MOBILE USERS
- Touch the three-point icon in the upper right corner.
- Scroll up on the screen to access the Settings and privacy option.
- Tap the Settings and privacy option to expand the menu.
- Touch the Settings option.
- Scroll up until you see the Security section.
- Tap the Security and login option.
- Tap the Change password option on the Access tab.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter a new password.
- Enter the new password again to confirm.
- Tap the Save Changes button.
CHANGE THE PASSWORD ON FACEBOOK WITHOUT ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT
Suppose someone played a trick on you and changed your password on Facebook, or you don’t remember it, or you think your account security may have been compromised. Here’s how you can change your Facebook password without having to log in to your account.
- Access the Find your account page
- Enter one of the following identification details- email, user name, phone number, full name.
- Follow the instructions
Note that two options are available. You can log in with your Google account or reset your password. If you sign in with your Google account, you will be able to use the method explained above to change your password.
If you choose to reset, the password reset code will be sent via e-mail to one or more e-mail addresses, depending on how many have been connected to your Facebook account. For reference, all connected e-mail addresses will be displayed on the Reset Password screen.
Select an option and click or tap the continue button. When you opt for recovery by e-mail, you will notice that in the e-mail sent by Facebook you will be given a code and an option to change the password directly.
If you press the Change password option directly from your mailbox, you will only need to type a new password and confirm it. However, if you have not closed the Reset password tab, you will be able to enter the code sent to your e-mail, right there in the Enter code box. Once done, just follow the instructions on the screen and type in a new password.
CHANGE THE PASSWORD ON FACEBOOK – OTHER SAFETY OPTIONS
Follow this path to change a series of access and authentication options that you may not know that you can configure on Facebook:
- Click the down arrow in the upper right corner of your Facebook page.
- Click on the Settings option.
- Go to Security and Login.
1. SAVE YOUR FACEBOOK ACCESS INFORMATION
This option is located just below the Change password option. If you click on the Edit button, you will be able to save your login information on your current browser, to avoid having to write your password. To log in next time, simply click on your profile picture and you’re ready to go. You can also choose to remove an account if you wish.
2. CHECK THE ACCESSES TO YOUR ACCOUNT
Before changing the password, you can use the Where to Access function. But, to really use it, you will first need to set up an additional security measure called Receive alerts on unrecognized accesses.
The card can be easily identified on the Security and access page. Enable notifications, messaging notifications and email access alerts to make sure you’re always up to date on where your account is used.
3. CONFIGURE A LIST OF TRUSTED FRIENDS
You can also choose to bypass the password with the help of three or five friends. If you choose some of your closest friends as trusted friends, you can ask them to send you a URL and a code that will help you log in again when you close your account.
And no need to worry. Your friends won’t have access to your account. They will only be used as trusted sources by Facebook, a bit like your secondary email, your phone number or other forms of identification.
4. USE THE TWO-FACTORY AUTHENTICATION
The two-factor authentication security feature is not enabled by default. However, you can enable it from the Security and access page if you follow the instructions displayed.
The interesting thing about this feature is that you can use it and make hacking your account more difficult. Because? Because you can ask Facebook to send you an SMS with an access code that will be required along with your password to access your account.
Even better, this only happens when someone logs in from an unknown device. You will still be able to use your phone and your computer, tablet or laptop to access Facebook only with your password if you have configured them as trusted devices.
CHOOSING THE PASSWORDS IS DIFFICULT
It is understandable that a password is often forgotten. Especially if you don’t use the same password for all your apps and emails or if you rely on randomly generated passwords. But even so, we find that this is the best practice to avoid being hacked without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on extra security measures.
