How To Reset Password On Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max And iPhone XR

One effective method you can use to reset the password of your iPhone is to perform a hard factory reset. This will result in you losing all your files, contacts and settings. However, you can backup your files before proceeding with the process.

There are different methods you can use to reset your password and they are iTunes, iCloud and the recovery mode method.

iTunes

To reset your password using iTunes, follow the steps below.

  1. First off, connect your iPhone to a computer via USB.
  2. Next up, go to iTunes on your computer and type in your passcode if you receive a prompt.
  3. It will take a few minutes for your iPhone to be synced. once its done, start the backup process.
  4. Once you have completed the sync and backup, tap on Restore.
  5. Select your device and finally check date and size of the available backups and select the most recent one

iCloud

  1. Visit this URL on another device (iCloud.com/find).
  2. If prompted, enter your Apple ID.
  3. Next up, tap on All Devices at the top of the screen.
  4. Next, tap on the device you want to reset and then tap on Erase.
  5. No, you should see two options. Either restore from a backup or set up as new. If you have a previous backup, you can go ahead with the former option.

Note – This method requires an internet connection on your device before the Find My iPhone feature can be used.

Recovery Mode

In a case where you have never synced your iPhone with iCloud or iTunes, recovery mode is the best possible option. This method will clear all data on the phone as well as the password.

  1. Connect your iPhone to a computer via USB.
  2. Next, go to iTunes on the computer.
  3. Once your iPhone is connected, force restart it. This can be done by pressing and holding the Sleep and Home keys for about 10 seconds even when the Apple logo appears on the screen until the recovery mode screen appears.
  4. Now, you should see two options – Restore or Update.
  5. Select the Update option and iTunes will begin to install iOS all over on the device. Your files will not be touched but it will take a few minutes.
