How to Use 1Password and LastPass Password Managers to Autofill Passwords in iOS 12

The iCloud Keychain is amazingly helpful. With it, you can autofill your usernames and passwords on your iOS and macOS devices. In apps on your iOS device, the feature automatically saves your passwords. Because the Face ID scan happens on its own, you won’t have to press a button. If you use 1Password or LastPass, you also have a similar experience as well.

iOS 12 comes with a new API which allows third-party providers like LastPass to directly hook into iOS 12’s password autofill system. This enables them to fill in the username and password for any site for which you have saved it. However, you won’t receive a prompt to save the details as iCloud Keychain does. Also, you can use more than one password manager at a time in iOS 12.

How to Set Up 1Password and LastPass Password Managers in iOS 12

Setting up a password manager is the same irrespective of which one you use. In this guide, we will use LastPass, but it will work the same way on 1Password as well.

  1. First off, you need to make sure that the password manager you wish to set up supports the Autofill feature. LastPass and 1Password have already been updated to work with this feature.
  2. Next up, launch the Settings app.
  3. Next, tap on Accounts & Passwords and then tap on Autofill Passwords.
  4. Turn AutoFill Passwords on.2 5
  5. Now, hit the LastPass option below or whichever password manager you use to turn it on.
  6. Now, LastPass’s AutoFill integration is active.
  7. Launch the LastPass app and then proceed to sign in with your credentials. You can then add your logins by tapping on the + button.
