However, HTC has come out to say there won’t be a smaller version for their latest flagship, the HTC U12 Plus.

HTC U12 Plus VS Huawei P20 Pro – The Design
Both the HTC U12 Plus and Huawei P20 Pro features a front and back glass with aluminum frame. The only difference is a liquid surface feature of the HTC U12 Plus. They’re both water and dustproof, the HTC U12 Plus has an IP68 rating, which slightly better than the IP67 rating of the Huawei P20 Pro. The Huawei P20 Pro is slightly slimmer and lighter. It weighs 180 grams and measures 7.8 mm in thickness while the HTC U12 Plus weighs 188 grams with 8.7 mm in thickness.
Moving to the back, the HTC U12 Plus packs a dual rear camera aligned in a horizontal direction at the top center. Below the cameras is the LED flash and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. While the Huawei P20 Pro packs triple rear camera placed in a vertical direction at the top left corner. The fingerprint sensor of the Huawei P20 Pro is embedded in its home button.
In terms of body colors, the HTC U12 Plus is available in three colors; Translucent Blue, Ceramic Black and Flame Red. Whereas, the Huawei P20 Pro is available in four colors; Twilight, Black, Midnight Blue and Pink Gold.

The screen technology used is different for both smartphones. HTC U12 Plus features a 6.0 inch Super LCD6 panel. While the Huawei P20 Pro features a 6.1 inch AMOLED panel. There’s no top-notch feature on the HTC U12 Plus. Whereas, the Huawei P20 Pro comes with a small top-notch that houses its selfie camera and other sensors.
The display of the HTC U12 Plus consists of an 18:9 aspect ratio, 1440 x 2880 pixels resolution and 537 PPI density. While the display of the Huawei P20 Pro consists of an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 1080 x 2240 pixels resolution and 408 PPI density.

The camera department is one of the highlights of both smartphones. The HTC U12 Plus scored total points of 103 while the Huawei P20 Pro scored 109 on DxOMark camera ratings. No other smartphone except the Huawei P20 has scored 100 or more points on the platform.
The triple rear camera of the Huawei P20 Pro consists of a 40MP + 20MP + 8MP sensors with features such as OIS, Leica optics, 3x optical zoom, PDAF & laser AF, HDR and LED flash. Whereas, the dual rear camera of the HTC U12 Plus consist of a 12MP + 16MP sensors with PDAF & laser AF, OIS, gyro-EIS, 2x optical zoom and dual-LED dual-tone flash.
Up front, the Huawei P20 Pro features a 20MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. While the HTC U12 Plus features a dual 8MP camera with f/2.0 camera.

Powering the HTC U12 Plus is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with an Adreno 630 graphics processing unit. While powering the Huawei P20 Pro is in-house Hisilicon Kirin 970 chipset with Mali-G72 MP12 graphics processing unit.
The HTC U12 Plus runs on HTC Sense UI overlaid on Android 8.0 Oreo, 6GB memory with 64/128GB internal storage. While the Huawei P20 Pro runs on EMUI 8.1 overlaid on Android 8.1 Oreo, 6GB memory with 128GB internal storage.
