Huawei Watch GT and Band 3 Pro are official – all the details of the two new wearables

During the launch event of the Mate 20 series, which took place yesterday, Huawei also announced the launch of two new wearables: Watch GT and Band 3 Pro.

The Huawei Watch GT smartwatch works with the company’s Light operating system, boasts 14 days of battery life and features real-time heart rate monitoring. The watch is water resistant and also includes sleep detection functions. Meanwhile, Huawei Fitness Band 3 Pro is equipped with integrated GPS, AMOLED touchscreen and water resistance capability.

Huawei Watch GT has a price of 199 euros and 249 euros for Sports and Classic versions, while Band 3 Pro costs a little less (99 euros). Availability has not yet been announced and should vary depending on the area.

The Huawei Watch GT features numerous interchangeable strap options, a round dial, a thickness of 10.6 mm and a 1.39-inch OLED touchscreen display (454 × 454 pixels) with a density of 326ppi pixels. The main feature is the battery life, which should be two weeks with a varied use of heart rate monitoring and 90 minutes of training per week.

In addition, Huawei claims that the battery can even go up to 30 days if the heart rate monitor is turned off and the watch is only used to receive messages and calls. If the GPS, heart rate monitoring and training monitoring are constantly active, the smartwatch will last approximately 22 hours.

The increase in battery life has been achieved thanks to a dual-chip architecture that saves 80% of energy consumption – a detail revealed by the same house in Shenzhen.

Huawei Watch GT is water resistant to 50 meters, houses a barometer, a compass, and an altimeter. It also supports sleep monitoring thanks to TruSleep 2.0, which manages to provide more than 200 potential tips for better sleep. Beyond that, Watch GT shows notifications of messages, calls, reminders or alarms.

In terms of specifications, Huawei Watch GT is equipped with 16 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM, supports Bluetooth v4.2 and NFC (but not Wi-Fi). For pairing, you need a device with Android 4.4 (or later) or iOS 9.0 (or later).

Huawei Band 3 Pro, on the other hand, features a 0.95-inch (120 × 240 pixels) AMOLED touchscreen display with 2.5D glass protection. The wearable keeps track of the heartbeat, sleep, and training. The 100 mAh battery (100 minutes charging time) lasts about seven hours with continuous GPS tracking and is also waterproof up to 50 meters.
