Usually, we report a few processors, but about the flagship models of Huawei and Co already. Now there was at IFA the new Kirin 980, which is installed for the first time in the Huawei Mate 20. Of course, we will soon see this SoC in other devices, probably in the spring in the new Huawei P30. HiSilicon has brought many improvements, for example, reduced the structure to 7 nanometers. Result – 20 percent more performance, 40 percent higher efficiency.
For Huawei also changes to A76 cores from ARM, built with the Mali G76 a 46 percent faster and 178 percent more efficient graphics unit and a dual NPU (AI function, Face-Unlock). Even the supported memory can now be even faster, which increases the performance and bandwidth. Huawei is thus improving its high-end SoC in all respects and that was also urgently needed.
Although the above numbers sound good and promise a lot, only in everyday life will improvements really prove themselves. In October, the Huawei Mate 20 will be introduced, the first smartphone with the new system-on-a-chip.
