LG V40 ThinQ is finally official – all the features of the new device

LG V40 ThinQ is finally official. The new South Korean company device was presented on Wednesday during a launch event held in New York City.

This is the successor to LG V30 presented last year and is also the company’s first phone to show off a total of five cameras – three on the back and two on the front. Other highlights of the LG V40 ThinQ include a Snapdragon 845 processor, an adequate water and dust resistance guaranteed by IP68 certification, a military-grade build (MIL-STD-810 certification), a Boombox speaker and a 19.5 OLED display – 9 with a lot of “notch” on the top.

The smartphone focuses heavily on audio technology with an improved Boombox speaker, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad-DAC audio and DTS – X 3D surround sound.

LG V40 ThinQ has Android 8.1 hours as operating system and comes with a 6.4-inch QVHD FullVision OLED panel (1440 × 3120 pixels) with a 19.5 – 9 ratio and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, paired with 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of integrated UFS2.1 storage space. The phone memory is expandable via microSD card (up to 2 TB).

As for the optical compartment, the LG V40 ThinQ features an exclusive three-camera configuration on the back. The 12-megapixel main sensor has an aperture of f / 1.5, a pixel size of 1.4 microns and a viewing angle of 78 degrees, the second 16-megapixel wide-angle sensor has an aperture of f / 1.9, while the third 12-megapixel sensor features a telephoto lens with an f / 2.4 aperture, with a 45-degree viewing angle.

On the front, the smartphone features a dual camera with a primary 8-megapixel sensor (aperture f / 1.9, a pixel size of 1.4 microns) and a 5-megapixel wide-angle secondary sensor (aperture f / 2.2).

The rear camera configuration also includes dual-phase autofocus (PDAF), improved HDR functionality and an updated AI Cam mode, with the ability to recognize up to 19 subjects.

Connectivity options on the LG V40 ThinQ include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is also equipped with a 3,300 mAh battery, with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and fast wireless charging. Other features include a fingerprint sensor located on the back and face recognition.

The price of LG V40 ThinQ in the US is 900 dollars (about 783 euros). The phone will be available in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Platinum Gray, and Carmine Red, although only the first two colors have been announced for the US market alone.
