In addition to the high-end Omen laptop, HP also expanded its gaming PCs to include the high-end hardware. The HP Pavilion Power 15 is a direct competitor to gaming laptops in the same segment as the Acer Aspire VX 15, Asus ROG Striker GL553VD, MSI GE62 7RE or Lenovo Legion Y520.
HP Pavilion Power 15 is currently available with two FHD configurations, Core i7-7700HQ, GeForce GTX 1050 graphics with 4GB GDDR5, 8GB DDR4 RAM or 16GB. Storage combines high speed SSD and high capacity HDD.
NEW DESIGN, DESIGN
As the name implies, Pavilion Power has many similarities to the Pavilion line, but it is both powerful in terms of external styling and internal hardware. The noticeable change of the Power 15 is the use of black tones and blue accents on the design, creating novelty for users at work as well as entertainment.
The audio is also blended with high-end B&O technology to provide the ability to reproduce deep and detailed sound system for entertainment needs. For connectivity, the HP Pavilion Power 15 includes HDMI, USB 3.1, 1 USB 3.1 C, 3 in 1 card reader and microphone integrated headphone jack.
Pavilion Power 15 is equipped with a 15.6-inch FHD screen, ultra wide view angle IPS display technology and 97 percent of the standard sRGB color range.
The quality of the screen is also appreciated with the ability to display the color range of sRGB standard reached 96%. The actual brightness is 280 nit and the high static contrast ratio (680 – 1) is still used outdoors or in a complex light environment. Customizable screen brightness so it does not feel tired when working in the long run with text files and tables in the office suite such as Word, Excel.
Considering the overall performance of the laptop configuration, the power of the discrete GTX 1050 graphics card is enough for you to experience adventures or take on a pinch of punch at 1080p resolution with graphics. High quality games like DiRT 3, Batman – Arkham Knight, Rise of the Tomb Raider can run smoothly on it.
Specifically when testing the game with Batman – Arkham Knight, test configuration averaged 40 fps and reduced to 32 fps with high graphics quality.
Moving to the evaluation of graphics processing power with 3DMark Time Spy, HP Power 15 reached 1,899 points, of which integrated graphics reached 1,756 points and the processor reached 3,541 points. Compared to the HP Omen model (Core i7-7700HQ, GTX 1050Ti graphics), the scores are only slightly lower. This is understandable because the default performance of the GTX 1050 is one level lower than the 1050 Ti.
The HP SSD is impressive with the highest sequential read speed of 2221.24 MB/s, which is eight times higher than the 275.4 MB/s write speed. PCMark 8 simulates common tasks such as speed of game loading, movie editing, image processing, etc. The SSD data access speed is 382 MB/s and 5,024 points.
With PCMark 8, high-performance mode configurations and screen brightness are reduced to 40% (battery mode), battery life is about 3 hours in a row when running web browsing, data transfer, image editing, video chat and even entertainment. This is also a good result in the evaluation of battery life through PCMark 8 tools compared to some of the current gaming laptops.
HEAT DISSIPATION CAPABILITY
The heat sink is also a bonus for two cooling fans, plus two heat pipes that help cool the processor and graphics chip faster and more efficiently.
When testing the machine’s heat dissipation in the office environment, the average temperature is about 28 degrees Celsius. The actual recognition shows that the machine works quietly when running office applications or playing entertainment lightly.
IN SUMMARY, THE NEW HPPAVILION POWER 15 HAS THE FOLLOWING ADVANTAGES:
- Beautiful and lightweight design, flexible mobility.
- Overall performance and good graphics handling.
- Full support for universal gateways.
- Full size keyboard, LED backlighting system.
With the above advantages, the gaming laptop is suitable for gamers, designers or office workers with high demand for work and entertainment.
