The Oppo A5 is the latest smartphone from Oppo’s A series. The company slightly announced the device by releasing the first photos of the sleek smartphone. The A5 targets those on a budget who wants to get value as well.
You get a massive 64GB storage space here with 4GB of RAM and dual rear camera. Just as we saw on the Realme 1 and Find X, the fingerprint scanner is missing on the A5 as well, with Oppo bringing on the Face ID feature.
Design
The design on the A5 reminds us of what we saw on the Realme 1, a sleek looking glossy-like back that reflects light beautifully. The back is simple and plain, well, except for the lines on it, making it more attractive to look at.
Dual cameras are visible at the top left corner in a horizontal position with the LED flash sitting right beside it. The Oppo logo also takes centre stage as the company marked their territory. It also measures 8.2 mm in thickness when you turn over to the sides.
Display
Oppo is known for its tall display of recent and the A5 comes with a tall screen as well. Even better, the screen has a 19:9 aspect ratio and comes with a notch at the top. The bottom chin is also very visible and always annoying.
Nonetheless, the 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is tall enough for big screen lovers, but don’t expect magic though. It has 720 x 1520 pixels in resolution and 271 pixel per inch density. Most importantly, it stretches up to 81.2% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Oppo’s A5 adopts the Snapdragon 450 chip from Qualcomm, which uses leading-edge 14nm technology. There’s 8-cores of processor clocking at 1.8GHz as well. In the graphics department, the Adreno 506 graphics processor handles graphics.
There’s 4GB of RAM space available for multitasking and reaches a memory speed of over 1GHz. In terms of storage capacity, you also get 64GB and can upgrade up to 256GB using a memory card. The Oppo A5 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Color OS 5.0 skin on top.
Camera
It’s equipped with dual rear cameras. The 13MP rear camera has autofocus, while the 2MP camera beside it has depth sensor and will help in portrait mode and background blur. The cameras come with a LED flash and other internal features like touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. It shoots videos of 1080p@30fps, while the 8MP selfie camera has f/2.2 aperture and supports Face ID.
Battery
Powering the Oppo A5 is a 4230mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2.5 hours.
