Oppo A5 VS Oppo A3 – battery life or overall quality? Barely six months after the release of the Oppo A3, Oppo is back with a successor called the Oppo A5. The Chinese OEM company has released the new mid-range smartphone to the Chinese market. The competition in the smartphone market is very much intense. And phone makers are no longer waiting for a year or six months before releasing a successor.

The Oppo A5 being a successor to Oppo A3 features similar design. Since the release frame between the two phones is not even up to six months. How much of an upgrade did the new Oppo A5 come with? Let’s compare the specs and features of the new Oppo A5 with the Oppo A3 to find out.

Both the Oppo A5 and Oppo A3 features a top-notch front display with an aluminum unibody. The back of both phones features a triangular-cut pattern similar to what we saw on the Oppo Realme 1. The Oppo A5 being a successor sports a dual rear camera. While the Oppo A3 sports a single rear camera. Most recent Oppo budget phones don’t feature the fingerprint sensor. The company is really pushing their face unlock system, which is featured on both Oppo A5 and Oppo A3.

The Oppo A5 measures 8.2mm thick and weighs 168 grams. Whereas, the Oppo A3 is slimmer measuring 7.8mm in thickness and weighs 159 grams. Body colors available for the Oppo A3 are Garnet Red, Knight Black, Soybean Meal and Stardust Silver. While the body colors available for the Oppo A5 are Blue and Pink.

The display of the Oppo A5 is not upgraded to the Oppo A3 but rather a downgrade. The Oppo A5’s display features a 6.2 inch IPS LCD touchscreen, 19:9 aspect ratio, 720 x 1520 pixels resolution and 271 pixels per inch density. Whereas, the Oppo A3’s display features a 6.2 inch IPS LCD touchscreen, 19:9 aspect ratio, 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution and 405 pixels per inch density.

Up front, both the Oppo A5 and Oppo A3 are equipped with an 8MP selfie sensor and f/2.2 aperture. The difference is in their rear camera. The Oppo A5 features a dual rear camera, which consists of a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The single rear camera of the Oppo A3 features a 16MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture.

Running underneath the Oppo A5 is Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset with an 8-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and Adreno 506 graphics processing unit. Whereas, running underneath the Oppo A3 is MediaTek Helio P60 chipset with an 8-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and Mali-G72 MP3 graphics processing unit.

Both phones are available with a 4GB memory, with the Oppo A5 featuring a 64GB internal storage. Whereas, the Oppo A3 features a 128GB internal storage. The Android OS available for both phones is Android 8.1 Oreo with Oppo’s Color OS 5.0+ skin on top of it.
