OUKITEL just launched the OUKITEL WP5000 smartphone today, a rugged device that packs like a flagship and retails like a midrange. The phone was released to go with the hype of the mobile season.

The MWC 2018 might be behind us now, but most of the phones announced at the event haven’t been released yet. Nonetheless, the WP5000 is available for sale immediately and boasts of 6GB RAM, 64GB storage space and a massive 5000mAh battery. Without further ado, meet the OUKITEL WP5000.
Design
As strong as they come, the OUKITEL WP5000 is ready for any challenge. Has IP68 certifications and accepts anything thrown at it, literally. The device has a Plastic + Metal + Polycarbonate mix body, the elements would protect the phone from scratches and falls.
It’s water-resistant as well, for up to 30 minutes though and not more than 1.5 meters underwater. Sports dual vertical rear camera which sits at the metal foundation. There’s a dual-LED flash beside the camera and a fingerprint scanner underneath for fast access to the phone.
Display
Turning over to the screen, it has much bezels just as expected. But nonetheless, the 78% screen to body ratio is impressive for a rugged smartphone, to be honest. It dishes out an 18:9 aspect ratio, offering a full view display to users. Another OUKITEL logo is at the bottom bezel, while the top houses the usual features.
A selfie camera is spotted at the top bezel, alongside a LED flash, ambient light sensor and speaker grille. The 5.7-inch HD+ IPS capacitive touchscreen doesn’t go with the hype. Boasting of just 1440 x 720 pixels in resolution and 282 pixel per inch density. Protecting the screen from falls and scratches is a Dragontrail Glass.
Hardware and Software
The system on chip is the MediaTek Helio P25 MT6757CD alongside a 64-bit CPU architecture and 8-cores of processor. The Octa-core processor runs at 2.5 GHz with a 16nm process technology. It’s a gaming smartphone obviously, housing the ARM Mali-T880 MP2 graphics processor which clocks at 1GHz.
6GB RAM is available here for fast multitasking through heavy apps and demanding apps. Furthermore, the RAM reaches a memory speed of 1.6GHz for a smooth ride. For storage, the 64GB storage space should accommodate all your files and games. If that isn’t enough, you can upgrade up to 128GB using a memory card. The OUKITEL WP5000 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.
Camera
The dual 21MP + 5MP rear camera comes with a dual-LED flash and captures 5K resolution images. The camera has a f/2.0 aperture and works like a flagship camera, far more impressive than the display. With the OUKITEL WP5000 you can take very sharp photos with 5292 x 3969 pixels in dimension. The 13MP selfie camera comes with a f/2.2 aperture lens and LED flash as well, you can also record videos of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Battery
Powering the OUKITEL WP5000 is a 5000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. Even with the fast charging feature, it might take up to 2.5 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
