The Sony Xperia XA1 Plus Review – Get Bigger, Get Smarter

Sony Xperia XA1 Plus is a bigger and better version of the April released Sony Xperia XA1. Bagging the mid-ranger status, Sony Xperia XA1 Plus arrives with super large memory and shooting prowess. As for the latter, that’s no news because Sony produces one of the best cameras in the smartphone universe. As we’re taking a look at one of the galacticos of the smartphone universe – Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, its upgraded features from its predecessors will be examined. Don’t touch that dial.

Sony Xperia XA1 Plus packs sleekness together with slimness. The dual speaker design thingy appears on the top bezel as well as the bottom bezel. Just like the bezel-less feature and dual camera setup became notable smartphone crazes, it seems as if this dual speaker thing is gaining grounds. The dedicated keys on the smartphone are the volume buttons and power button. The rear is where the primary camera gets its location. XPERIA logo also appears at the rear. SONY logo however appears at the top bezel. The rear of the smartphone has a smooth texture and a weight of 189 g. The dimensions of the smartphone are 155 mm length, 75 mm breadth and a thin 8.7 mm thickness. That just expresses the smartphone’s slimness. Sony Xperia XA1 Plus has four colour options which are Black, Blue, Pink and Gold. The smartphone is fully wrapped in aluminium alloy material and polycarbonate.

Xperia XA1 Plus’s colour options

Sony XA1 Plus has a 5.5 inches display with Full HD. This is 0.5 inches larger than the Sony Xperia XA1. The resolution of its display is 1080 x 1920 pixels compared to the 720 x 1280 pixels on the Sony Xperia XA1. The screen sharpness of Sony XA1 Plus is basically on top as it features a 401 ppi as opposed to the 294 ppi on its predecessor. This smartphone’s touchscreen is the IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen type and it makes use of the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection.

No difference in its OS as this Plus version features the Android v7.0 Nougat OS. Although, there is a planned upgrade to the latest Android v8.0 Oreo. Just like the former, it is powered by an Octa core ARM Cortex A-53 CPU that clocks at 2.35GHz. The SoC in the processor department is the MediaTek Helio P20 chiset. The graphics on the smartphone is produced by Mali-T880MP2. Same as the Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Plus has 32GB ROM which can be expanded to 256GB. Its RAM category has variants which are 3GB and 4GB RAMs.

This category of the smartphone is the same as the Xperia XA1’s. The rear camera has a 23MP shooter with LED flash while the front camera has an 8MP shooter with no flash whatsoever. The 3,430mAh battery of this smartphone overshadows the Xperia A1’s 2,300mAh battery.
