The Vivo Z1i has been launched as the upgraded variant of the Z1 smartphone we reviewed a couple of weeks ago. The Z1 was part of the smartphones Vivo launched for the 2018 FIFA World Cup as the official smartphone partner.
Well, Vivo has introduced the Z1i which focuses on heavy users with more storage space and improved selfie camera. The device is also AI-powered just like the first version. Without further ado, lets meet the Vivo Z1i.
Design
The sleek smartphone looks almost identical to the Z1 in terms of design. It sports a Polycarbonate + Metal mix unibody which reflects light beautifully. Vivo smartphones are known for their stunning body and the Z1i didn’t disappoint in that aspect.
Adding to the beauty at the rear is the trendy vertically aligned dual rear cameras with the LED flash coming underneath. When you turn over to the sides, it measures 7.89mm in thickness and weighs 149g. It’s available in Red, Blue and Black colors.
Display
Turning over to the front, you’ll be graced by the notched screen we saw on the Z1 with all its goodness. One thing I like about he Z series from Vivo is how small the notch and bottom chin are. Compared to other screen we’ve seen, this is one of the best notched screen yet.
The 6.26-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is absolutely stunning, boasting of 1080 x 2280 pixels in resolution and 403 pixel per inch density. The screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass and stretches up to 84.48% screen to body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 636 from Qualcomm is in charge. The chip was built on a 14nm leading-edge technology and comes with 8-cores of processor clocking at 1.8GHz as well. In the graphics department, the Adreno 509 graphics processor handles graphics.
There’s 4GB of RAM space available for multitasking and reaches a memory speed of over 1.3GHz. In terms of storage capacity, you get a bigger 128GB and can upgrade up to 256GB using a memory card. The Vivo Z1i runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch 4.0 OS skin on top.
Camera
Vivo still equipped the device with the dual 13MP + 2MP rear camera we saw on the Z1. The 13MP camera has f/2.2 aperture, while the 2MP camera underneath has f/2.4 aperture. Both cameras were accompanied by a LED flash and other internal features. For selfies, Vivo brought on more pixels, making it a 16MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture with support for Face ID.
Battery
Powering the Vivo Z1i is a 3260mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2 hours.
