Xiaomi has just revealed a new device – the Xiaomi Mi 6X. The unveiling took place in China, but the smartphone probably comes out worldwide as the Xiaomi Mi A2. In other words, the successor of the Xiaomi Mi A1.
Xiaomi Mi 6X revealed – top specs for a low price
The Mi A1 is so interesting because the biggest disadvantage of Xiaomi smartphones is taken away – the bloatware. The Xiaomi Mi A1 runs on Android One, an extra efficient version of the operating system that squeezes the utmost in low-end and mid-range specifications.
And let that be exactly what Xiaomi excels in – offering surprisingly low prices. The company does not have to make a profit with its smartphones because it earns money with its services. As a result, you often get the same performance in practice, for half the price.
Anyway, in some African countries, it remains a difficult option. After all, you will have to go to sellers on AliExpress, for example, and the software is relatively inaccessible. The Mi A2 at least resolves that second problem with Android One.
But let’s not anticipate things, because for now the Xiaomi Mi 6X has only been confirmed for China. Just with Xiaomi’s own software. The Mi 6X is the first smartphone that offers the Snapdragon 660 for less than 300 dollars.
The specifications are also strong – a 5.99-inch FHD + screen, 6 GB of memory and 128 GB of expandable storage memory, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3010 battery. The device can also be charged with Quick Charge 3.0 at lightning speed.
The Mi 6X runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, with on top MIUI 9. Another welcome change is the addition of USB-C. At the back of the budget phone is a double 12MP camera, selfies can be taken with a 20MP camera. Includes LED flash.
Xiaomi has, in its own words, significantly improved camera performance through artificial intelligence. For example, Google does not have a dual camera on its Pixels, but with selfies, it delivers the best Portrait photos. The Xiaomi Mi 6X gets all the smart photo functions of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S.
Waiting blown on Xiaomi Mi A2 with Android One
The budget model comes in five colors – red, blue, black, gold, and rosé gold. There are three different variants – 4GB RAM and 64GB storage memory for $ 250, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage memory for $ 280 and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage memory for $ 315.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X will be on sale in China from 27 April. Internationally, however, it is mainly waiting and see, for this device when the Xiaomi Mi A2 is released, with Android One. Then the Nokia 7 Plus finally has decent competition. Ultimately the consumer wins.
