Xiaomi Mi A1, lights and shadows

On September 5, 2017, the Xiaomi Mi A1 was launched. It is the first Xiaomi smartphone that dispenses with MIUI, the popular customization layer of the Chinese manufacturer. To this, we must add an interesting double camera, accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. All at an affordable price. What has made it a super sales success?

Xiaomi Mi A1, all a super sales but…

In fact, ten days after it went on sale, it had already run out in all colors. But as it is not gold everything that glitters, with the passing of days have been appearing a series of problems in this device, which have marred in a certain way its impressive success.

Update issues to Android 8.0 Oreo

Android Oreo
Most errors of the Xiaomi Mi A1 have occurred after the upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo.

In this sense, it must be said that the process of updating this phone has not been as satisfactory as one would expect. After Xiaomi promised to upgrade the Xiaomi Mi A1 to Android 8.0 Oreo before the end of 2017, there have been several stoppages in the updates, which have probably caused several of the errors that have followed.

For example, many users have suffered continuous closure of their applications after updating to Android 8.0. According to specialists, the “fault” is a “dirty” update of the device. This has forced them to restore the operating system from the factory, with all the inconvenience that this generates since previously it is necessary to dedicate time to make a backup of the data.

The slowness of the apps

Another problem that users of the Xiaomi Mi A1 have encountered is the slowness (excessive in many cases) of some apps to open. If we take into account the hardware configuration, it does not make sense that this happens. Although there are several factors that may be affecting this section, experts have pointed out that there are still many applications that are not optimized for Android 8.0 Oreo.

Other failures that have been detected

Sometimes the system gives an error and does not allow deleting images from the file manager or Google Photos.

To a lesser extent, other failures have been detected. Like the fact that sometimes the system gives an error and does not allow deleting images from the file manager or Google Photos. Also, some users have criticized that sometimes the screen goes black suddenly and you have to restart.

The solutions, in motion

In any case, the latest Oreo updates seem to have solved a good part of the difficulties that arose with the first OTA. As you can see, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is a device with its lights and shadows, but it is still very appetizing. We take this opportunity to recommend another super sale of this Chinese company – the Xiaomi Redmi 5.

  1. This is the similar problem users of Infinix Note 4 are experiencing after upgrading their mobile devices to Oreo. I guess the released version is still very much unstable. Now, they’re asking how to revert to the old Android 7.1 that originally came with the phone.

  2. No… Redmi note 5 pro, processor is better than Mi A1 even Nova 2i is better in every aspect compare to Mi A1 because Mi A1 uses low quality camera from Omnivision.
