Xiaomi recorded a huge success in the market with its Mi Max series which was started in 2016 with the Xiaomi Mi Max, due to the fact that it caters for a specific category of consumers; those that love it big. Now, the company is preparing to update the series with its 2017 flagship, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2.

Xiaomi recently sent out invites for the smartphone’s launch in India at an event that’s coming up on the 18th of July. Here’s what the Mi Max 2 is bringing to the table.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Specifications, Review and Highlights
Design & Display
As the device represents BIG things, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes in the phablet section with a 6.44-inch Full HD IPS display with 2.5D curved glass. The big screen notwithstanding, the device is slim and sleek to handle, thanks to its 0.7mm-slim side bezels.
The Mi Max 2 weighs 211 grammes, and while this might seem pretty heavy to end users, the size and battery capacity of the device have to be considered, and I daresay that the device is light when compared with other smartphones with similar specs.
Storage & Processor
Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor which can clock up to 2GHz, and an Adreno 506 GPU which makes it super easy for 3D games to run seamlessly on the device.
The processor has 4GB of RAM to carry out its operations, and the user has the option to choose either 64GB or 128GB of internal memory, both of which can be further expanded via an external microSD card.
Camera
Many people buy smartphones for the camera experience, which is why Xiaomi has packed the Mi Max 2 with a 12MP main camera with Phase Detection Auto-focus, a Sony IMX386 sensor and a dual-tone LED flash at the rear.
Selfie freaks are not forgotten, as the Mi Max 2 sports a decent 5MP camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens and a f/2.0 aperture at the front.
Battery & Connectivity
Here’s where the Mi Max 2 has it really BIG. It packs a 5300mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The combination of the big battery and the fast charging tech ensures that you can enjoy the smartphone’s exciting features without the disturbances caused by a charging cable for very long, and if for any reason, the battery percentage gets low, you don’t have to wait for eternity to get a full charge back.
The smartphone has a hybrid dual Micro+Nano SIM lot and supports 4G VoLTE. It possesses a USB Type-C port which makes it faster to transfer files to and from other devices, and has stereo speakers to deliver a wonderful audio experience.
Software & Hardware
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with Xiaomi’s much-loved custom UI, MIUI 8 layered on it. A fingerprint sensor is located on its back and an infrared sensor lies on the other side of its proximity sensor at the front.
