Mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi is rumored to be preparing a successor to its Mi Max phablet in model of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. Even as the original Mi Max is still very much relevant in the mobile market, Xiaomi is reportedly planning to take the Mi Max series to a whole new level with rumoured specifications of the Mi Max 2 indicating that the device would bear a sleek display and could possibly be powered by the yet-to-be released Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

The bulky size of the Xiaomi Mi Max was a major cause of concern to users, but nonetheless, we expect to see something similar in the Mi Max 2 as both devices are expected to bear similar features except some improvements most especially in the software aspect (not saying the Marshmallow on the Mi Max isn’t good enough).
Xiaomi Max 2 Rumoured Specifications, Review and Highlights
Speaking of a sleek display, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is expected to feature a 6.44-inch IPS 2.5D curved glass display protected by tough and sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which offers drop-damage protections while still maintaining optical clarity and sensitivity. The device should possess a screen resolution of 1920*1080 pixels with a pixel density of ~342 ppi.
The device as rumoured will be powered by Qualcomm’s Octa Core Snapdragon 660 chipset with the Adreno 512 GPU powering its graphics. It is still unclear as to whether the Snapdragon 660 chipset will use Kryo cores or instead favour the quad ARM Cotex A73 CPUs plus quad ARM Cortex A53 CPUs which have clock speeds of 2.2GHz and 1.9GHz respectively.
The Mi Max 2 should run on MIUI 8.0 or 8.1 based on the Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box as expected and anything short of that will be considered a total shock, athough Marshmallow is still pretty much around.
In the Mi Max 2, we are expecting to see a mobile device that carries a non-removable battery of 5000mAh capacity. Another plus should be the presence of a USB type C reversible connector that operates at a speed of 10Gbps thereby enhancing fast battery charging.
The phablet will reportedly come with a 16MP shooter with dual tone LED Flash for the rear while for the front is a 5MP camera.
We are not sure yet as to whether the Mi Max 2 will follow in the trails of the original Mi Max by coming in two variants with one having a 64GB in-built memory and 4GB RAM capacity and the other possessing a 128GB internal memory and 6GB RAM capacity both being expandable to 256 GB using a Micro SD. If that is the case, then a sim slot would have to be sacrificed based on rumours that it will come with hybrid dual SIM slots.
Other features expected of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 include; DLNA connectivity, GPS, Fingerprint scanner, Gyroscope, Infrared sensor.
