When you run or, more generally, you engage yourself in any sports, have someone or something that motivates you is very important to achieve increasingly ambitious results and goals. A valid ally that can help us in these situations is our smartphone with one of the hundreds of apps that allow music streaming. In addition to the smartphone, however, we also need a pair of good headphones that reproduce excellent music and are convenient for use during sports activities.
ANKER recently launched a pair of new Bluetooth SoundBuds series called Anker SoundBuds Slim. The ANKER SoundBuds Slim is an excellent in-ear sound system for its price. I got these headphones to replace others that unfortunately have been irreparably damaged and after some use, I can say that they do exactly as described.
Given that I have not yet made accurate use of it, the headphones have a neat design, many accessories and excellent musical quality with intense bass. With my Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S4, pairing is simple and instant and the price is really great. In this complete review, we will discover all their features together.

The SoundBuds flaws:
- The first is that they are not multipoint, that is, they cannot connect to multiple devices at the same time. This for me is not very nice having been accustomed by the previous headphones to have the convenience of using headphones with multiple devices turned on at the same time.
- The second, again due to previous experience with previous headsets, there is no possibility to redial the last number contacted. A function that I found very convenient without having to reselect it from your smartphone.
- The keys too rigid and difficult to press.
I did not expect a perfect sound, I must say that the product looks very good, like all Anker products, that the sound is quite good and the reproduction lasts around 7 hours. It is not a product for sound purists, but solid and of good quality. I think a little unbalanced towards the headset with the control/battery.
Considering the price I can’t give less than five stars. Many months have passed since I use the headset, mainly when I run, never a problem. Good sound, I’m not making comparisons with the € 200 products.
Anker SoundBuds Slim – Design and build quality
Once again, Anker managed to make a pair of really good Bluetooth headsets. In particular, the wire has a rubber coating while the earphones themselves offer a metal and plastic case.
The remote control, however, is made of plastic. In correspondence with the Anker logo, placed on both earphones, two powerful magnets are installed to allow the gadget to be tied around the neck to carry it more easily.
The company claims to have used an ergonomic design to ensure excellent comfort. Thanks to the accessories included in the package, they can also be easily adapted to any type of ear.
There is also the IPX5 certification to resist splashing water and sweat. As mentioned, on each earphone there is the Anker logo with a circular silver ring that breaks with the black steel case.
Along the right side of the earpiece, there is the control panel that implements the + and – buttons for adjusting the volume with the Play/Pause button in the center, the microphone, and the LED indicator while on the right there is the micro USB port. Speaking of numbers, Anker SoundBuds Slim Bluetooth headsets weighs just 16 grams while the wire is 59 cm long.
Anker SoundBuds Slim – Features
Anker’s latest pair of Bluetooth headsets provide superior sound quality thanks to the apt-X HD codec which allows you to listen to your favorite songs without distortion. Their ergonomic and lightweight design ensures maximum comfort, as well as the ability to customize it with silicone earbuds and bows.
Inside, there is a particular nano-coating that protects the hardware components from water and sweat. You can easily turn the Anker SoundBuds Slim on and off by holding down the Play button for 1 to 3 seconds, respectively. In the first case, the LED indicator will flash once in blue and in the second once in red.
During the charging phase, which can be done via a wall charger or by connecting the earphones to a USB port on your PC, the LED indicator lights up red during the charging phase and lights up blue once completed. In the case of a low battery, the LED starts to flash red. With earphones turned off, you can activate pairing mode by pressing and holding the Play button for 3 seconds.
To return to the pairing mode and disconnect from the connected device, it is necessary to hold down for 3 seconds and simultaneously the + and – buttons. In the pairing phase, the LED repeatedly flashes blue. Once connected to the personal device, however, it remains lit in blue.
With the 3 buttons on the Anker SoundBuds Slim control panel, you can do some things. During music playback, you can play or pause a piece of music by pressing the Play button, adjust the volume with + and – buttons and go back and forth in the music tracks by pressing the + and – buttons for 1 second.
By pressing the Play button for 1 second you can activate the virtual assistant of your smartphone, where it is present. During the call phase, instead, with the Play button it is possible to answer or end a phone call or by holding it down for 1 second it is possible to reject it, switch from the call on hold to the incoming call or transfer the audio of the call from the earphones to the smartphone.
In addition, when a call is received, the LED indicator of the Bluetooth earphones flashes blue while during a call it remains blue. More specifically, the Anker SoundBuds Slim has 2 full-range drivers of 6 mm each, a 20 Hz-20 kHz frequency response, a 16-ohm impedance, a 5V 0.1A micro USB port and Bluetooth technology 4.1. This allows an operating range of up to 10 meters.
Anker SoundBuds Slim – Performance
The Anker wireless earphones provide up to 6 hours of battery life with a single charge that occurs in 1.5 hours. By setting the volume to the maximum on the headphones and 90% on the PC, I was able to play music for 5 hours. Using a wall charger with Smart 5V 2.4A technology and mini micro USB cable, the Anker SoundBuds Slim earphones took 1 hour and 55 minutes to fully recharge.
Considering their selling price of only $31.35 (N11,400 in Naira) at 5% off, the audio quality is to be considered really good. The medium and low tones are reproduced very well. Only the high ones tend to be slightly metallic. The maximum volume is very good, as is the operating range. As for the microphone, it behaves well, managing to transmit our voice without problems to the other party.
Given the implementation of two magnets on both earphones, I would have appreciated the implementation of the same features on the SoundBuds Sport IE20 earphones that allow you to play or pause a music track, answer phone calls or connect to the latest available device with a simple union or separation of the magnets.
Taking in hand the Soundbuds Slim a detail immediately reaches the eye- the back of both headphones is magnetic and therefore it is possible to keep them together, avoiding that the connection wire gets tangled during transport.
The IPX5 certification should allow the Anker wireless headsets to withstand water jets. I can confirm the resistance to sweat and water jets.
