Doogee are now known for making clones of other smartphones and the Doogee X53 just proved that. This is coming after the company launched the Doogee X55, which was clearly an iPhone X clone. The company is focusing on making clones right now, which I don’t think would do them any good. Honestly, I miss the old Doogee. This new clone from Doogee is very affordable with an attractive body. Design
I think the body is quite adorable and cute, you wouldn’t know it was made from plastic. The two lines at the top and bottom corner surely adds to the beauty, while the iPhone X-like camera is a killer. The dual vertical camera with a LED flash in between is the highlight of the device, bringing out its beauty.
It sports a rear fingerprint scanner, which is obviously not on the real iPhone X. That’s where the Apple logo should be right? Anyways lets move to the sides now, there’s a visible power button and volume keys as usual. It measures 8.67 mm in thickness and available in Black, Silver and Rose-Gold colors.
Display
The display would definitely give it away, although it is bezel-less no doubt but not like the iPhone X. The screen got up to 71.20% screen to body ratio which is impressive for a clone, but the bezels are still there. At least there are no navigation buttons at the bottom bezel, while the selfie camera and front flash sits at the top.
Enough of the bezels, lets focus on the screen now. The company even installed the color iPhone X wallpaper on the 5.3-inch FWVGA IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The screen boasts of a 480 x 960 pixels screen to body ratio and 203 pixel per inch density which is disappointing. But nevertheless the affordable device has an 18:9 aspect ratio and supports multi-touch.
Hardware and Software
Working underneath is the MediaTek MT6580 chipset, with Quad-core processor which clocks at 1.3 GHz. It has a 32-bit CPU architecture, 28nm process technology and an ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics processor. The graphics processor comes with 2-Cores and reaches a maximum speed of 500 MHz.
Disappointingly, it packs just 1GB of RAM and a memory speed of 533MHz for extremely light multitasking. In terms of storage, it comes with 16GB internal storage space. The space is expandable up to 64GB using an external memory card. The X53 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
I know you must be thinking of how sharp the dual rear iPhone X-like camera are since it’s a budget device. Well, they are just for show, but not entirely. The dual rear 5MP + 2MP camera with f/1.8 aperture captures 2K resolution images which is very disheartening.
Images taken with the device only boasts of 2592 x 1944 pixels in dimension. Record videos of 720 pixels at 30 frames per second as usual, while the 5MP selfie shooter with LED flash is ideal for late video calls.
Battery
Powering the Doogee X53 is a 2200mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology support. Typically, it shouldn’t take more than 1.5 hours to fully charge the battery.
