How To Turn Off Screenshot Sound On Android Phones

By default, whenever a screenshot is taken on an Android smart phone, a click sound is made to signify that the screenshot has been taken alongside the white Flashing light on-screen. Now, some android users (me Included) don’t see any problem with the screenshot sound but some others don’t like the sound and would like to turn it off, leaving only the flashing light on-screen as sign that the screenshot was actually taken. If you would like to turn off the sound once and for all then you most likely can, depending on the smart phone you’re using.

Normally, the Android operating system doesn’t come with an option to turn off the screenshot sounds. However, some smart phone makers have gone the extra mile to include/bundle the feature in their Android Skin among other extra features. Some smartphones without the option to turn off the screenshot sound includes Google Pixel, Nokia and some other smartphones, most running stock Android like Xiaomi’s Mi A1 and Mi A2 also known as Xiaomi’s Mi 5X and 6X respectively. However, some smartphones like OnePlus, Other Xiaomi devices running MIUI and other smartphones in general have the options to turn it off with just on toggle.

So to turn off screenshot sound on Android phones, there are two ways; The first method includes going to the settings menu and turning it off for Android devices that have the option and a workaround for Android devices without the option in their settings Menu.

How to turn Off Screenshot Sound on Android Phones

– On your Android device, Click on Setting.

– In the Settings Menu, Click on Sounds.

– Scroll down and you’ll see the “Screenshot Sound” option with a toggle to turn it off.

– Alternatively, you can Open the Settings Menu, Use the search Option at the top to search for “Screenshot sound”, Click on it, Scroll to the screenshot sound options and toggle it off.

If you’ve followed the two methods above and couldn’t find screenshot sounds option then your phone doesn’t have the option and you’ll have to follow the steps below for a workaround.

First, you can use the Google assistant app to take a screenshot which won’t make a sound. All you have to do get to the page you would like to take a screen of, then pull up Google assistant by saying “Ok Google” if you’ve already set it up. If not, Press and hold the home button to wake your Google assistant up. Once it is up and listening, tell it to take a screenshot and it will take a screenshot without making a sound.

However, you should know that screenshots taken by Google assistant won’t automatically be saved to your Gallery and you will need to upload to Google photos for it to be saved.
