Huawei Honor 9i has been launched by Huawei’s sub-brand, the 9i is a gaming smartphone on a budget, according to the company. It looks like the Honor 10, but it’s mainly an upgraded version of the Honor 9 smartphone.
The device is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset from Huawei with an octa-core processor. It also features GPU Turbo tech, which is perfect for gamers on a budget. There’s 4GB RAM and a tall 5.84-inch screen to display your games as well. Lets find out more.
Design
The Honor 9i comes with a Metal body and rear features that reminds us of the Honor 10. Unlike the Honor 10, the 9i doesn’t have gradient colors to turn heads at a gathering. Nonetheless, it quite stunning with curved sides and edges.
The cameras are horizontal at the top left corner with the LED flash beside it. Then the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back, giving more for a fuller screen. It measures 7.5mm in thickness, weighs 164g and available in Black, Blue, Purple and Lime colors.
Display
The screen is obviously not as tall as the Honor 10, but it comes with less bezels. This is because of the removed physical home button and the fingerprint scanner moving to the rear. However, there’s a notch and bottom chin as well.
The 5.84-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen should bring out your games and videos really nicely. Boasting of 1080 x 2280 pixels in resolution and 432 pixel per inch density, the screen also dishes out the trendy 19:9 aspect ratio.
Hardware and Software
Huawei’s powerful mid-range chipset the HiSilicon Kirin 659 is in charge here, it has an Octa-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-Cores of processor here reaches a fast speed of 2.36GHz with 16nm FinFET process technology. While the Mali-T830 MP2 graphics processor has a Turbo tech.
You can easily multitask through your favourite games and apps with 4GB RAM, and a memory speed that clocks up to 1GHz. While for storage, there are two versions, a standard one with 128GB and a cheaper variant with 64GB. Nonetheless, you can upgrade up to 256GB using a memory card. The Huawei Honor 9i runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0.
Camera
The dual 13MP + 2 MP rear shooters comes with a Portrait mode and other features like phase detection autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. Videos are recorded at 1080p@30fps. While the 16MP selfie camera has 2.0µm pixel size and supports Face ID.
Battery
Powering the Huawei Honor 9i is a 3000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.7 hours.
