Instagram just introduced a nametag which allows users it’s mobile app to add others in real life. The feature allow users of the app to use their Smartphone camera to scan someone else’s nametag which takes them straight to the person’s profile. You can also have your scanned in order for other to go straight to your account. The feature works just like scanning a QR code for payment except this is for Instagram accounts.
This feature is better only when the person you’re about to add has a very long or somewhat confusing Instagram name with a lot of signs in-between then scanning the person’s nametag would be easier. Otherwise, typing in the name manually into the search bar would be a lot of easier and faster than scanning the person’s Nametag. Nevertheless, it is still a nice feature and worth having just in case the need arises or you stumbled unto a friend with a confusing Instagram name.
To make use of the feature, you’ll have to go to your profile and Click on the Menu Option in the top right corner of the screen.
