Although, there are still premium smartphones that cost that much. But it isn’t really a must nowadays. We now have the OnePlus 6, the Xiaomi Mi 8 and the Huawei Honor 10 at reasonable prices. South Korean phone maker LG, has joined the ship now with their new LG G7 ThinQ.

The LG G7 ThinQ is the official flagship of the OEM company. And it comes relatively cheap, just below the $800 mark. I think it’s only a matter of time before brands like Apple and Samsung start considering their pricing. In this article, we’ll be comparing the LG G7 ThinQ with the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6 is a very strong competitor when it comes to affordable premium smartphones.

The trending top-notch display makes almost every smartphones look similar from the front view. The LG G7 ThinQ and OnePlus 6 features a top-notch display with a bottom chin. The notch of the LG G7 ThinQ is slightly longer. While the notch of the OnePlus 6 can be turned off. They both come in a front and back glass sandwiched with aluminum frame. Flipping over to the back, both smartphones features a dual rear camera module. The dual rear camera is aligned at the top center, with a fingerprint sensor below it.

The LG G7 ThinQ measures 153.2 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm in dimensions with a weight of 162 grams. Whereas, the OnePlus 6 measures 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.8 mm in dimensions with a weight of 177 grams. In terms of durability, the LG G7 ThinQ has a MIL-STD-810G compliant rating and IP68 water/proof rating. The OnePlus 6 on the hand, has none of these ratings. But will resist splashes of water like rain. The body colors available for the OnePlus 6 are Midnight Black, Mirror Black, Silk White and Amber Red. Whereas, the body colors available for the LG G7 ThinQ are New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and Raspberry Rose.

The OnePlus 6 packs an Optic AMOLED panel, which measures 6.28 inch. Meanwhile, on the LG G7 ThinQ is an IPS LCD panel, which measures 6.1 inches. The OLED screen technology featured on the OnePlus 6 is better than the IPS LCD on the LG G7 ThinQ. Almost all 2018 flagship comes with the OLED technology. But somehow LG decided to stick with the IPS LCD technology instead.

The OnePlus 6’s display houses 19:9 aspect ratio, 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution and 402 pixels per inch density. While the LG G7 ThinQ’s display houses 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 1440 x 3120 pixels resolution and 564 pixels per inch density. The screen of both the OnePlus 6 and LG G7 ThinQ is protected by Corning gorilla glass 5.

The camera of the LG G7 ThinQ is AI-driven while that of the OnePlus 6 isn’t. The dual rear camera of the LG G7 ThinQ features two 16MP sensors. The primary 16MP sensor has a f/1.6 aperture while the secondary 16MP sensor has a f/1.9 aperture. At the front of the LG G7 ThinQ is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture.

OnePlus 6 also features a dual rear camera system consisting of a 16MP primary sensor and a 20MP secondary sensor. Both camera sensors of the phone have a f/1.7 aperture. Up front, the OnePlus 6 comes with a 16MP selfie camera and f/2.0 aperture.

Both phones are capable of giving you the very best of performance. They’re both powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with an Adreno 630 graphics processing unit.

The OnePlus 6 runs on Oxygen OS 5.1.8 skin on Android 8.1 Oreo. It comes with two memory variant of 6GB and 8GB. Whereas, the LG G7 ThinQ also runs on Android 8.1 Oreo but with UX 6.0 skin. The two memory options available for the LG G7 ThinQ are 4GB and 6GB.

The LG G7 ThinQ houses a non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery. And the OnePlus 6 houses a non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery. Both smartphones support their company’s version of fast battery charging. While the LG G7 ThinQ also supports WPC & PMA wireless charging (US version only).

Both are affordable premium smartphones, which makes them valuable to users. The LG G7 ThinQ is sold for around $792 (N277,200). While the OnePlus 6 is sold at around $609 (N213,150). The LG G7 ThinQ is slightly expensive but it offers wireless charging, water, and dust resistance.
