Moto Z3 was launched on Thursday at an event in Chicago, the company’s headquarters. The new smartphone arrives after the Moto Z3 Play, which debuted in June, and has as main features a great resistance to water splashes and a great Android experience.
In addition, Motorola, which has been owned by the Lenovo brand for two years, has also partnered with Qualcomm to launch a 5G Moto Mod which will allow access to the next generation Moto Z3 network. The 5G Moto Mod uses a Snapdragon X50 modem and “millimeter components” to offer 5G access to the Verizon network.
The price of the new Moto Z3 smartphone in the United States has been set at $ 480 (about € 415). The smartphone will be sold exclusively through Verizon in Ceramic Black option starting August 16th. Soon the device could also land in the remaining international markets.
Moto Z3 has the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system, upgradable to Android P, and comes with a full HD 6-inch AMOLED display (1080 × 2160 pixels) along with a ratio of 18 – 9 Max Vision and a protection for Gorilla glass 2.5D Corning. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, combined with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of integrated memory expandable via microSD card (up to 2 TB).
The smartphone is equipped with a dual rear camera that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f / 2.0 aperture and a 12-megapixel monochrome sensor, combined with a dual LED flash. On the front, we find instead an 8-megapixel sensor with an aperture f / 2.0. The front camera sensor also enables a Face Unlock function, which is the unlocking of the phone via face recognition.
In terms of connectivity, Moto Z3 has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS / A-GPS, NFC and USB Type-C. Onboard sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, fingerprint scanner (on the right panel), magnetometer (compass) and proximity sensor. The handset is also equipped with a 3000 mAh battery which offers a quick charge via the 15W TurboPower charger.
