The release of new flagship device – OnePlus 5 device came not too long ago. However, some people have opined that it is coming too soon since the last flagship was released – the OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus 3T device came just months after the launch of the OnePlus 3. We don’t know why the makers are releasing their flagship smartphones this frequent. What we are aware of is that they have been successful with it.

Today, we’d be taking a look at what OnePlus has upgraded from the previous flagships. It will help us know if upgrading to this present flagship device is really worth it. Only the upgraded aspects would be touched.
PROCESSOR
This present flagship – OnePlus 5 – comes with a Snapdragon 835 processor. This was upgraded from the Snapdragon 821 present in the OnePlus 3T device. And also, Snapdragon 820 present in the OnePlus 3. Processors on the Oneplus 3T & 3 devices are dated one and two generations back. The series have witnessed a steady upgrade.
MEMORY
The OnePlus 5 device comes in two variants in terms of memory – 6 & 8 GB RAM. OnePlus 3T only has one variant which features the 6 GB RAM, likewise the OnePlus 3 too.
STORAGE
On internal storage, the most recent flagship comes in two variants too. These include the 64 GB and 128 GB variants. On their own hand, the two previous flagships were only limited to a 64 GB internal storage. To me, i see this as a worthy upgrade for OnePlus.
REAR CAMERA
With a dual camera, the OnePlus 5 device was upgraded from the single camera features on the previous two flagship devices. While OnePlus 5 has a 16 MP + 20 MP dual rear camera, OnePlus 3T has a single 16 MP camera, which is same with the OnePlus 3 device. Another feature newly present in this present flagship phone is the 2.0x optical zoom and EIS.
On a side note, just in case you’re wondering, Electronic image stabilisation (EIS) is an image enhancement technique using electronic processing. EIS minimises blurring and compensates for device shake, often a camera.
ONEPLUS 5 SMARTPHONE DESIGN
Lots of people have opined that the OnePlus 5 device is a complete copy-cating of the iPhone 7 device. I could never agree more with this opinion. The device is an iPhone 7 lookalike. Maybe they copied Apple’s concept, perhaps not. We do know it has a very great design nevertheless.
So these are just the aspects that were upgraded from the last flagship launch. Please do tell us if it actually is a worthy upgrade, or not.
