Despite the booming fate of the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has continued the Galaxy line with a new tablet, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition. Actually, this isn’t a new device but a refresh of the original Samsung Galaxy TabPro S 2-in-1 tablet which was launched at the beginning of the year.
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition comes with many feature upgrades in aspects like memory & storage, charging and of course the body design which sports an all-new gold finish.

Display & Design
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition has a 12-inch display which has a 2K (2160 * 1440) pixel resolution and is made with Samsung’s Super AMOLED (SAMOLED) panels.
Like the standard edition, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition comes bundled with a full-sized keyboard cover that has a flexible hinge that enables optimal, dual-angle viewing. The keyboard connects to the tablet via Pogo pin, eliminating the need for pairing or separate charging. The keyboard also has a touchpad to provide easy control, even when used in Stand Mode.
The tablet features a gold finish which gives it a premium look and feel. Comparing it side by side with the standard edition would make you wonder if truly, both tablets bear the same name. Without the keyboard attached, the TabPro S Gold weighs 690 grammes and has a thickness measurement of 0.25 inch.
Memory & Performance
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition comes with double the RAM and internal storage of the standard edition; It has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of Solid State Drive (SSD) capacity. If you ever have the need to add more storage on the tablet, a USB Type-A port is there for you.
The Galaxy TabPro S Gold is powered under the hood by an Intel Core M3 Processor with a speed of 2.2GHz. The SoC also has Intel Graphics built in to ensure that all graphic-intensive operations are carried out smoothly.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition packs a 5200mAh battery like the standard edition. The battery offers 10 and a half hours of video playback, and the tablet comes with an enhanced fast charging technology which is capable of taking the battery percentage from 0% to 100% in just two and a half hours. Charging is accomplished via the USB Type-C port present on the device.
Connectivity
There are four ports on the device – one HDMI port, one USB Type-A port for connecting to external storage devices like flash drives and hard drives, and one USB-C 3.1 port for charging the device.
For software connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4G+5GHz, VHT80 MIMO). What those technical jargons mean is that you have a Wi-Fi function faster than you can get on some modern laptops and tablets. The tablet also comes with Bluetooth v4.1 for transferring files wirelessly.
Camera
The camera setup is pretty much the same as the one on the standard edition. There is a 5MP autofocus camera at the rear and a 5MP selfie shooter at the front.
There is a modification in the camera software, however. The Galaxy TabPro S Gold’s rear camera has 4x digital zoom and is capable of recording videos at Full HD (1920 * 1080) resolution.
Software and Hardware
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition runs on Windows 10 Home out of the box. We expect that the tablet would have as much software modifications as the smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy line.
