Starmobile Up Selfie – Review
Starmobile Up Selfie is a selfie focused smartphone from Starmobile, the device is from their Up series. Released last month and retails for $199 (N70,000), the midrange smartphone takes the best selfies according to the company. The phone boasts of the average specs like most midrange smartphone, but what else does it have to offer? Apart from the dual front shooters, lets see what else it can offer, shall we?

Design
It looks like the modern midrange smartphone no doubt, sporting a rear fingerprint scanner and covered in metal. The metal was crafted to perfection and smoothly polished, making it quite comfy to hold and operate. The rear camera and LED flash are sitting in a horizontal position at the top left corner, just above the antenna line.
It measures 8.5 mm in thickness, which is not surprising because it has a small battery capacity. It will be suspicious if its fat by the sides, don’t you think? Up Selfie is also very light to pick up and operate, measuring 139g. You can only get this in two colors, it comes in only Gold and Black colors.
Display
The bezels are still pretty much there, this is what happens when you focus on the selfie camera instead of the display. It sports three navigation buttons at the bottom bezel, while the dual selfie shooter and LED flash sits pretty at the top. The details on the screen is pure basic and definitely won’t win any award here.

The 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is just like every other 5-inch screen on a midrange smartphone. Boasting of 1280×720 pixels in resolution, while the pixel per inch density is pegged at 282 pixels per inch. Clocking just 69.12% screen to body ratio (16:9 aspect ratio), the multi-touch screen offers nice visuals.
Hardware and Software
It houses the MediaTek MT6737 chipset with Quad-Core processor reaching a clock speed of 1.3GHz. It has a 64-Bit CPU architecture, 28nm process technology for a smooth performance when navigating through. The graphics processor is an ARM Mali-T720 MP2 processing unit with 2-Cores reaching a clock speed of 600MHz.
For fast multitasking, there’s a 3GB RAM space with a memory speed of 640MHz. There’s a standard 16GB internal storage space on the device which is upgradeable up to 128GB with microSD. Starmobile Up Selfie runs smoothly on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
The dual 13MP + 13MP selfie shooter on this baby is definitely the highlight, both cameras will work together to deliver breathtaking selfies. At the other side of the bezel, there’s a front LED flash to compliment your selfies even in low light.
The camera at the back is a single 13MP snapper that captures 4K resolution images in a click. Take beautiful photos of 4160 x 3120 pixels in dimension with lots of features to choose from. Another LED flash is right by the side of the rear camera, to help capture photographs in dark places.
Battery
Starmobile Up Selfie is powered by a 2900mAh Non-removable Li-Ion battery, with no fast battery charging feature. It shouldn’t take more than 2.4 hours to charge up the device from 0% to 100%.
