Xiaomi Redmi Y2 has been launched by Xiaomi in India, the Redmi Y2 targets the Indian market. The device looks exactly like the Redmi S2 and comes with similar features as well. The Redmi Note 5A Prime was also introduced as Redmi Y1 in India late last year.

Design
Just like the S2, the Plastic body has been designed to please the eyes as well. At first glance, you won’t have a clue that it’s actually Plastic. Furthermore, it comes with the dual antenna lines and looks sleek as usual.
The iPhone X-like dual rear shooters are still in the usual position with the LED flash coming in-between. It has a fingerprint scanner as well and measures 8.1mm in thickness. It weighs 170g overall and available in Gray, Gold and Rose Gold colors only.
Display
Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes with a tall screen that dishes out an 18:9 aspect ratio. Furthermore, the screen is pretty great and will display nicely. Even though the overall bezels seem to be very visible and a little thick, it’s a major upgrade compared to the Y1.
The massive 5.99-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is big enough for lower mid-range users. The screen has 720 x 1440 pixels in resolution and 269 pixel per inch density, bringing your videos to life. Additionally, it stretches up to 74.5% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Snapdragon 625 chip from Qualcomm takes its rightful position here, coupled with an Octa-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-Cores of processor clocks at a smooth speed of 2.0GHz with 16nm process technology. In the graphics department, the Adreno 506 is in total control.
There are two versions in terms of storage space and RAM, the standard version comes with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. While a cheaper variant packs, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space. You can always upgrade both versions up to 256GB. The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.5 skin on top.
Camera
The dual 12MP + 5MP rear camera supports portrait mode. The 12MP shooter supports 4-in-1 pixel binning, f/2.0 lens, 1.25μm pixel size, PDAF and AI abilities. Features on the cameras include gyro-EIS, phase detection autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR.
You can record videos of 1080p@30fps, the 16MP selfie camera comes with a AI, LED flash and supports HDR. The AI enables Beautify mode and Portrait Selfie mode. The machine learning detects backlit condition automatically and brings out more details in your selfies.
Battery
Powering the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is a 3080mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.6 hours.
