Xiaomi is known for making innovative smart gadgets that make life easy for people and it has again come up with a new smart LED ceiling light called the Xiaomi Yeelight. The Yeelight is a home moonlight night-light with IP60 dust resistance.
One of the many interesting things about the Xiaomi Yeelight is its fast installation. The Yeelight can be installed under five minutes and this is made possible through a coupler module bundled with the device that can easily push and slide to lock lamp holders.
The Xiaomi Yeelight features 240 colour rendering index of up to 95 LUMILEDS / OSRAM LED lamp beads, this implies that users can have their light adjusted to different intensities and dimness.
The Xiaomi Yeelight LED Ceiling light has up to 28W powering rating. It is also claimed to last up to 25000 hours. It has Aluminium plate that maintains coolness.
Another interesting feature of the Yeelight is the fact that it comes with a Bluetooth remote control that allows you to remotely switch on and off your light without necessarily being in the same room. The Bluetooth remote control comes separately.
It also has a dual-chip which allows three-way dimming brightness from 0.1 lumens to 2000 lumens. In terms of temperature regulation, the Yeelight can be adjusted to deliver cold or warm colours, with an adjustable colour temperature range from 2700K to 6500K. So, in addition to the home electric heater, the Yeelight can also provide heat regulation during extremely cold weather.

The Xiaomi Yeelight LED ceiling Light will be available on Xiaomi’s Mi Smart Home Crowdfunding platform as from the 29th of December. It is pegged at a price of CNY 349 (about US$ 50).
My elderly father who is a career electrician bought and installed two of the Yeelight Ceiling lights. The included remotes do not work on either one – although we could get the lights to function sporadically with the “Bluetooth” app (which is really wifi, not bluetooth.) Furthermore all the instructions are in Chinese which would be great if we read Chinese. Nothing in English inside the box.
I wish I knew how to contact the MFG, but again, nothing in English.
I cannot recommend what otherwise could be a nice light.
