Android users can now lock their incognito sessions with a password code or biometric data when they exit the app, thanks to a new Chrome update that is currently rolling out. The feature has long been accessible to iOS users, but it is now also being made available to Android Chrome users.
Users can use this feature by going to Chrome Settings > Privacy & Security and turning on the “Lock incognito tabs when you close Chrome” toggle. So the next time a user closes Chrome, their incognito session will be locked automatically. To unlock the incognito tabs, you can use the biometric unlock on the phone, such as a fingerprint unlock or lock code.
When looking for a subject that you don’t want to show up in your recommendations or history, this feature works well.
Even if you are using the most recent version of Google, the update might not yet be available to you since the company has only recently begun rolling it out. If so, you can enable the flag by typing “chrome:/flags/#incognito-reauthentication-for-android” and instantly unlock the feature.
Google announced that it is also updating its Safety Check feature as part of a larger update to send users more personalized recommendations about the permissions they have shared with particular sites. For instance, Safety Check will prompt you to modify your notification access settings if a site is sending out too many notifications.
