Connect the PS4 controller to your Android phone or Tablet

If you’re playing the Android version of Game of War, or practically any other game (including emulators), it would be much easier to play with a controller.

While most Android games have built-in gamepad support, others do not and require a root app like Tincore to map the buttons to the controller buttons.

However, if you’re playing with integrated gamepad support and have a PlayStation 4 controller at your fingertips, it’s extremely easy to connect it to your Android device via Bluetooth to start playing more comfortably right away.

Step 1: Prepare the controller

In order for your Android phone or tablet to display the controller listed as a possible Bluetooth connection, you will need to use a combination of buttons on the DualShock 4 PS4 wireless controller to access the pairing mode.

On the DualShock 4 controller, hold down the Share and PS buttons simultaneously until the light bar starts to flash white.

Step 2: Set up your Android

On your Android device, turn on Bluetooth, then select the “Wireless Controller” option listed. Once you have established that the device and the controller are connected, you will notice that you can use the DualShock 4 controller to navigate through the device, however, some actions are limited.

Step 3: Enable third-party controls within a game

As mentioned above, not all games are compatible with third-party controllers, but many are, so enter the game settings and look for controller options.

Each game is different, but what you essentially want to look for is a way to disable Android controls or select a third-party controller option.

Does your favorite game not have integrated controller support? If you are rooted, use Tincore Keymapper to run your DualShock 4 controller.

Step 4: Connect to your PS4

When you’ve finished playing your Android games and want to play on PlayStation 4 again, simply connect the controller to the console via the mini-USB cable and press the PS button.

It’s simple to set up and will make some games easier to play, so let us know what you think by commenting below.

Should you use a PS4 controller on your Android device?

If you have a game that works well with that or allows you to remap the buttons, it will certainly add value. As an alternative, we also suggest trying an Xbox One controller with Bluetooth.

Even if you do not currently have the need or cannot play with a controller, some popular games like Fortnite may offer controller mapping in the future, and knowing how to set it up will be very useful.
