Create a backup with iCloud or iTunes
The first thing to do before installing a new version of the operating system is to create a backup of your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. For this, you can use both iCloud and iTunes.
- Verify that you have access to iCloud or iTunes, plus a computer and an additional device that you can use later to access the backup copy.
