I was asked recently if using Snapchat without installing the app on a mobile device was possible, initially i thought “No. That does not look like a possibility.” but after few findings, i realized that it could happen. You can actually use Snapchat without the mobile app if it is installed on your Windows PC or Mac.
Snapchat is a self-contained social network controlled by the application so it is impossible to use it installing that app in one way or another. If you have no access to the Snapchat app on your smartphone, it can be used it on PC or Mac. While not exactly using it without installing the app, it is kind of.
Snapchat does not need any hype, you already know how amazing the app is when you have an account on it. Even if it was developed to work on your mobile phone, it can function on a computer as well with small configuration.
A Windows or Mac app for Snapchat is not available. You can use an emulator though. I personally use Nox since it is free and functions effectively. It has both a Windows and a Mac version so it fits this current situation superbly. Your Google account would be required to log in and download Snapchat which is the only other requisite to enable us achieve our goal.
There are other emulators that can be at your service if you intend to use something else.

Install The Nox Emulator

- Have your PC camera set up for you to snap with it.

Install Snapchat In Nox
It might seem unexpected that you have to install an Android app on a Mac when there is an iOS version available but the most appropriate emulators right about now are the Android ones. There is iPadian that is able to simulate an iPad but it is not as effective as Nox. It can be used as an alternative if thats what you want while you install Snapchat from the App Store.
- Get Nox fired up and get yourself logged into your Google account.
- Access the Google Play Store from inside Nox.
- Search for Snapchat and select Install.
Installation will take some seconds if your connection is very effective. You can now launch Snapchat via the app drawer or via its icon on the Home screen. Be aware that when you first install Snapchat in Nox, it might not be visible immediately until it is installed twice. Once it did, it remained in place as it should.
Snapchat via Nox functions exactly like on an Android device. A mouse and keyboard is used for navigating and your webcam or computer can replace your mobile device. Otherwise, the experience is same as you are already familiar with.
