Huami’s Small Priced Amazfit Arc Fitness Tracking Device

Amazfit Arc alongside Amazfit Pace completed the trio of the devices released by Huami last year. The Chinese based company already released Amazfit Moon Beam and Equator wearables, which were not perfect but attractive looking wearable. Huami is one of the largest wearable making company in the world and its new wearable joins the company’s ceramic-based fitness tracking devices released earlier last year.

The fitness tracker comes at a very much budget friendly price compared to other fitness trackers out there. At a price of $70, the Amazfit Arc tracks your ticker, distance, counts steps, calories and monitors sleep. It also has notification feature by receiving messages and phone call notifications via vibration.

The fitness tracker has a 0.42-inch OLED display with a design that looks like the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 and Fitbit Alta. However, the Amazfit Arc has a touch responsive display unlike the other two mentioned earlier. The touch responsive display, in this case, is limited to the bottom part of the screen and is very much sensitive. This highly responsive is a good thing but might prove difficult at times whereby you navigate around a little too fast and miss metric you intend to see.

Compared to the likes of Alta and Mi Band 2, the Arc has a larger screen display but does not show graphics in the touch responsive area rather the time and other information is displayed at the top of the Arc. The fitness tracker comes in only one colour which is black and this is a little bit disappointing as different coloured variant would have been pretty much appreciated. On the lighter side, the black band will blend with whatever you are wearing but still remains unobtrusive on the wrist.

The Amazfit Arc has an IP67 rating which means it is dust and water resistant up to 1m for 30 minutes. In other words, while you can not take it swimming or in the shower, it can withstand washing dishes, rain or sweat. However, if you choose to take it into the shower you should keep it out of direct spray up to 30 minutes. The fitness tracker sits pretty well on the wrist with the band’s soft thin rubber material which makes it easy to slip on and off. It has an easy buckle-clasping band in place just like in the Fitbit Charge 2 and Fitbit Blaze.

In addition, Huami’s Arc features a heart rate sensor and accelerometer which according to the company is a power efficient piece of technology. Apart from step counting there is no auto-tracking of other activities and could not be set manually in the app or wrist. The step tracking and heart rate monitoring were relatively accurate although not 100 percent but very close. The Arc offers basic fitness tracking so there is no GPS or gyroscope.

The sleep tracking on Android is similar to how the Fitsleep device works and offers a rating on a scale of 0 – 100 on your night’s sleep and graphs of deep and light sleep. The 70mAh Amazfit Arc battery offers a generous 20 days battery life on a single full charge.
