Meizu X with 12MP Sony IMX386 Rear Camera – Specs & Price Review

Meizu has launched its highly anticipated phone which was simply identified as Meizu X. The device was launched alongside the Meizu Pro 6 Plus, but it adopts an entirely different design when compared to devices Meizu had released in the past. The Meizu X belongs to the budget but beautifully designed Blue Charm series and could as well by called Meizu Blue Charm X.

Specifications

The Meizu X sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display said to have been supplied by the Sharp Corporation. The device also uses TDDI display touch technology for a much better touch accuracy. The display also features full Incell technology ensuring that the display panel is thin and sleek looking. There is also a 2.5D curved glass with double ceramic crystal coating process on top.

Design

As stated the device features a design entirely different from all what Meizu has done in the past. The Meizu X adopts a superb, premium-looking design on an all metal body. Despite the metal body, the device comes in four attractive colours namely; Blue, Gold, White, and Black. The X also has a physical home button at the front, and it doubles as a front fingerprint sensor which the company boasts as capable of unlocking the device in 0.2s. The fingerprint sensor can be used for fingerprint payment in platforms like Alipay, and WeChat Pay.

Processor & Storage

Diving into the hardware, the Meizu X does not disappoint either, packing a powerful MediaTek Helio P20 chipset (MT6757) onboard. The Helio P20 uses the 16nm manufacturing process and has an octa-core architecture with a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz. The P20 offers 40% more performance than the P10 and is also said to reduce power consumption by 60%. Going further, there are two RAM/storage versions on the device which supports the LPDDR4X RAM memory. The lower version features a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage combination, while the higher version uses a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage combo.

Camera, OS & Battery

On the camera, the Meizu X packs a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor at the rear aspect with f/2.0 aperture, 6P lens, and PDAF and LED flash. There is also a 5MP front-facing shooter which should do some justice to your selfie needs. Talking about the software onboard, the X runs on Android 6.0-based Flyme 5.2 OS from the factory. Although the company unveiled its latest Flyme 6 OS, the UI is not featured on The Meizu X but could find its way into the device via an update in due course. That notwithstanding, the Flyme 5.2 is touted as coming with 400 feature additions and One Mind AI Engine.

The sleek device packs a decent 3200mAH battery inside which comes with mCharge, allowing the device to charge up to 40% in just 30 minutes courtesy of the 18w charging capability onboard. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, 3G, etc.
