Nokia X6 VS Nokia X5 – what’re the differences? HMD Global has released a new smartphone into the Chinese market called Nokia X5. The phone is also known as Nokia 5.1 Plus in the global market. The naming pattern is similar to the Nokia X6 (Chinese), which is called Nokia 6.1 Plus globally. HMD Global is doing a wonderful job in revitalizing the Nokia brand.

Both the Nokia X5 and Nokia X6 falls under the mid-range category of the market, which makes them direct rivals. Let’s compare the specs and features of both X-series smartphones and find out which is one is better.

Both phones are designed in a similar pattern. They both have the iPhone X inspired notched display. Though the top-notch of the Nokia X5 is longer. They both feature a bottom bezel, with the Nokia brand written on it. The Nokia sports a front and back glass with an aluminum frame. Whereas the Nokia X5 also features a front and back glass, but its frame is made of plastic and not aluminum.

The Nokia X6 is slimmer and lighter with an 8 mm measurement in thickness and weight of 151 grams. Whereas, the Nokia X5 measures 8.1 mm in thickness and weighs 160 grams. The dual rear camera, LED flash and fingerprint sensor is aligned at the top center on both phones. Body colors available for the Nokia X5 are Night black, Glacier white and Baltic sea blue. While, the Nokia X6 is available in Black, Blue and White body colors.

Both the Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 sports an IPS LCD touchscreen with a 19:9 aspect ratio display. The Nokia X6 features a 5.8 inches screen size, 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution and 433 pixels per inch density. While the Nokia X5 features a 5.86 inches screen size, 720 x 1520 pixels resolution and 287 pixels per inch density.

The dual rear camera set-up of the Nokia X6 features a 16MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. Meanwhile, the Nokia X5 also features a dual rear camera set-up but with reduced mega-pixels. The dual rear camera consists of a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP secondary sensor.

Up front, the Nokia X6 packs a 16MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture. While the Nokia X5 features an 8MP selfie snapper with f/2.2 aperture.

It’s a matter of Qualcomm vs MediaTek here. The Nokia X6 is being powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset. The chipset carries an 8-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and Adreno 509 GPU. While the Nokia X5 is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. The Helio P60 comes with an 8-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and Mali-G72 MP3 GPU.

Nokia has no user interface or skin software. So all their smartphones run on Google pure operating system called Android One. Both the Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. The Nokia X6 is available in two memory variants; 4GB memory with 32/64GB storage and 6GB memory with 64GB storage. While the Nokia X5 is also available in two memory variants; 3GB memory with 32GB storage and 4GB memory with 64GB storage.

Powering both the Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 is a non-removable Li-lon 3060 mAh battery. While the Nokia X6 supports fast battery charging (Quick Charge 3.0). There’s no indication of any fast battery charging support for the Nokia X5.

The Nokia X6 cost around $293 (€250). While the Nokia X5 will cost about $209 (€189). As you can see, the main differences between both phones are in the display, camera and hardware department. And the Nokia X6 supports fast battery charging, which the Nokia X5 doesn’t.
