OnePlus 6 VS Vivo NEX S – flagship comparison. Vivo has been making the headlines in the smartphone industry these past few weeks. The Apex concept smartphone we all witnessed at this year’s Mobile World Congress has finally arrived. It debuts as the Vivo NEX S and Vivo NEX A. These two smartphones features an all-display screen with no notch or bezels present. Obviously, the duo is now the first smartphone with such a feature.
The Vivo NEX S is the company’s flagship and will be our focus for this article. If you’re conversant with smartphone battles, then you know the best flagship killer right now is the OnePlus 6. The smartphone has all the core features of a flagship phone but it’s far more affordable. So how well does the OnePlus 6 compete with the features of the new Vivo NEX S? OnePlus 6 VS Vivo NEX S – The Design
The design of both the OnePlus 6 and Vivo NEX S follows the current thread in the market. They’re built with a glass sandwich design with an aluminum frame in-between the front and back glass. The OnePlus 6 has the advantage when it comes to how hefty they are. The OnePlus flagship weighs just 177 grams with 7.8 mm in thickness. Whereas, the NEX flagship from Vivo weighs 199 grams with 8 mm thick.
Vivo NEX S is definitely the first smartphone with no bezels or notch at the front. The phone features a display that we saw from the Apex concept during this year’s Mobile World Congress. While at the front of the OnePlus 6 is a top-notch, which can be switched off though. Moving to the back, the OnePlus 6 features a fingerprint sensor, LED flash and dual rear camera.
You won’t find a fingerprint sensor at the back of the Vivo NEX S. The feature is embedded inside the display of the smartphone. Most flagships are following that trend and soon, the rear mounted Fingerprint sensor will be for midrangers and budget smartphones. At the back of the Vivo NEX S is a dual rear camera with LED flash aligned at the top left corner.
OnePlus 6 VS Vivo NEX S – The Display
Both smartphones adopt the OLED screen technology. The OnePlus 6 comes with a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED panel. While the Vivo NEX S packs a 6.59 inch Super AMOLED panel. In terms of the display features, the OnePlus 6 houses a 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio and 402 PPI density. Whereas, the Vivo NEX S houses a 1080 x 2316 pixels resolution and 388 PPI density.
OnePlus 6 VS Vivo NEX S – The Camera
On paper, the OnePlus 6 seems to have the edge in the camera department. Its dual rear camera consists of a 16MP primary sensor and a 20MP secondary sensor. Both camera sensors feature f/1.7 aperture with other features such as gyro-EIS, OIS, and PDAF. While the dual rear camera of the NEX S packs a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. The primary sensor features f/1.8 aperture, dual-pixel PDAF, and 4-axis OIS. On the secondary sensor is a f/2.4 aperture.
Coming over to the front-facing camera, the OnePlus 6 sports a 16MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture. Whereas, the Vivo NEX S sports an 8MP pop-up shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The pop-up front-facing is one of the highlights of the Vivo NEX S.
OnePlus 6 VS Vivo NEX S – Hardware and Software
Nothing much to separate these two in the hardware department. They’re both powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with an Adreno 630 graphics processing unit. The Octa-core processor on the OnePlus 6 clocks at 2.8GHz. While the same processor on the Vivo NEX S clocks at 2.7GHz. You probably won’t notice any difference in performance.
They both run on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo from Google with their respective user interface skin laid on top. The OnePlus 6 features Oxygen 5.1.8 user interface while the Vivo NEX S features Funtouch OS 4.0 user interface. Both smartphones come with an 8GB memory with either 128GB or 256GB internal storage. While the OnePlus 6 has a smaller memory model of 6GB with 64GB internal storage.
OnePlus 6 VS Vivo NEX S – The Battery
The Vivo NEX S comes with a non-removable Li-lon 4000 mAh battery with fast battery charging 22W. Whereas, the OnePlus 6 features a non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery. The OnePlus 6 features one of the best fast battery charging in the industry, which is known as Dash Charge.
OnePlus 6 VS Vivo NEX S – The Price
The Vivo NEX S goes for about $819 (N286,650). While the OnePlus 6 is priced at around $609 (N213,150). The OnePlus 6 will be a viable option for users who can’t afford the Apex smartphone. The only significant edge the Vivo NEX S has is the huge battery capacity.
