T-Mobile currently experiencing phone call and text messaging outage; Verizon and AT&T also affected

Reports from users on Downdetector claim that customers of certain networks in the US are currently having issues placing calls. These networks include T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T and reports have seen a spike around 2:20 PM ET.

From what we have gathered, the problem seems to be from T-Mobile’s end and as a result, all calls to and from users on the network have been replied with an error message. According to TheVerge, AT&T says its network is “operating normally” and Verizon claims its network is “performing well.” T-Mobile on the other hand claims to be working to fix “a voice and data issue that has been affecting customers around the country.

A statement from Verizon reads- “We’re aware that another carrier is having network issues. Calls to and from that carrier may receive an error message.” Now, it makes sense that while this may seem to be an outage, it could be the problem of just a single network provider since many people who have reported failed calls don’t know the carrier of the person they placed a call to.

It has been six hours since T-Mobile made its previous update and the company is still working on fixing the issue. In a new blog post from the CEO of T-Mobile, Mike Sievert, he says that T-Mobile is “recovering from this now but it may still take several more hours before customer calling and texting is fully recovered.”

When the company published the previous update, it had already fixed data services, but it was still facing difficulties to return phone calls to normal.
