What is Android P (Android 9.0) full name? See how Google tip us

Usually, when Google begins to reveal the first few previews of an Android P update, speculation and rumors start to pop up on all sides. But it is also understandable since the company is giving some tips here and there. This time, the target is Android P; Android 9.0, whose name has not yet been revealed even during Google I / O.

Google’s annual trade fair, which runs from May 8 to 10 this year, was expected to show the public some more functions of the new operating system, which is already in beta, and its official name, but only the features were released to the public making it seems that Google wants to make it a surprise for us, while Android users have begun speculations.

Here are the first images of the next Android P beta. You can also check out the Android P Beta full features in details.

It is very unlikely that Google will use the names “Android Pez”, “Pancake” or “puff-puff“; but guess what, a rumor is circulating that it can be called Popsicle, or the much loved and well-known Popsicle.

I have seen a ton of comments from people speculating on the new name. Popular guesses included:

  • Pancake
  • Peppermint
  • Pie
  • Pineapple
  • Pistachio
  • Pizza
  • Popcorn
  • Popsicle
  • Potato
  • Pudding
  • Pumpkin

There were also some one-offs, including Pop Rocks, Pringles, and Pop-Tart

The rumor about the so-called “Android Popsicle” appeared when Google, in its Instagram account, posted a series of images in the Stories as wallpapers. In the last of the images, the drawing displays a lot of lollipops in different formats.

Okay, so it’s too much to speculate that the next Android’s name is “Popsicle” based only on this supposed tip from Google. But, anyway, it’s important to remember that lollipops are considered desserts; and, even more importantly, it’s cool to also remember that Google has used Lollipop (in Android 5.0) in the past, and curiously it is, guess what, “lollipop”.

Betting on guessing the name of the next version of Android has already begun, and if Google does not give more tips, or if no leaks happen, we’ll only find out its official name in a few weeks.

The new version of Android is already in use by developers (and also by users who can not wait for the update) in beta. It brings support for the notch on the screen, APIs for using more cameras, support for 4K video at 60 fps native mode and much more.
