HMD Global presents Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 – big steps ahead of the past

After the sale of Nokia 8 Sirocco in some countries, HMD Global decides to make us feel its presence again with a decidedly unexpected announcement.

After confirming the arrival of Nokia 5.1 a long time ago by publishing a tweet, today the house, during an event in Moscow, has decided to present updated versions of three of its major smartphones: Nokia 2.1Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1. Let’s find out more in detail these new smartphones!

Nokia 2.1 – features

Nokia 2 is a smartphone presented at the end of 2017 dedicated to the low-end market. Despite its very interesting design and its battery, this device has disappointed a lot in terms of performance. Precisely for this reason, four months after its entry into the market, the house has decided to propose a new version called Nokia 2.1.

If we do not find many differences between these two models in terms of design, it can not be said for the rest. Just like for Nokia 1, HMD Global has decided to opt for Android Go too, so that the smartphone can offer interesting performances despite the 1 GB RAM and the internal 8 GB memory. However, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC is there to help.

The display also evolves from 5 to 5.5 inches, but still remains in HD with an aspect ratio of 16 – 9. There is no change in the photographic sector, where we find the 8-megapixel rear camera and the 5-megapixel front camera. Finally, a small change is found in the battery where it goes from 4100 mAh to 4000 mAh – a loss of 100 mAh.

Nokia 2.1 will be launched at the end of August in our country at a price of 129 euros. The colors available are Blue / Copper, Blue / Silver, and Gray / Silver.

Nokia 3.1 – features

If Nokia 2.1 has reconfirmed a device dedicated to the low end, the new variant of Nokia 3 makes it evolve making it finally a smartphone to really take into account.

Nokia 3.1, in fact, has two different configurations, both accompanied by the MediaTek MT6750 processor. In the first, we find 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, while in the second 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. It is expected that both configurations run very well thanks to the presence of Android One, already seen on almost all the smartphones presented by the company at Mobile World Congress 2018.

The display on Nokia 3.1 is a 5.2-inch IPS with HD + resolution, 18 – 9 aspect ratio and 2.5D glass. The rear camera is 13 megapixels, while the front is 8 megapixels. The battery is enhanced compared to the past coming to 2990 mAh.

Unfortunately, the Finnish house has decided to bring in our country only the variant with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. This will be available from June at a price of 169 euros. The colors available are Blue / Copper, Black / Chrome, and White / Iron.

Nokia 5.1 – features

The Nokia 5.1 finally inherits several features from the Nokia 6 seen last year. This, in fact, is equipped with a 6000 series aluminum body that makes the device very elegant and comfortable to use. Moreover, among the smartphones presented today, is the only one to be equipped with a sensor for unlocking using the fingerprint.

There are several differences between Nokia 5 and its updated version, all very interesting. The first news that you notice is the choice to abandon Qualcomm opting for a MediaTek processor and, more precisely, for the  MediaTek P18that hopefully can offer good performance on this smartphone, also equipped with  Android One. As memories, there are the same configurations seen on Nokia 3.1, so 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM or 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM.

The display becomes bigger and more resolute, going from 5.2 inches HD to 5.5 inches Full HD + with 2.5D glass. On the photographic section, we find a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The battery is 2970 mAh.

Nokia 5.1 will be available in our market starting from August in the configuration of 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory for the price of 269 euros. The colors available are Copper, Tempered Blue, Black.

Updates to Android P and Oreo

During this event, HMD Global did not stop just presenting these three new smartphones, but decided to open up by making promises to its new potential customers. This has ensured that the two smartphones with Android One presented today, then Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1, will receive both Android P, although it has not indicated the release times.

Another important promise made by the house concerns its entry-level Nokia 2 (not the updated model). The company has guaranteed that this smartphone will also receive Android Oreo in June so that it can reach the other brothers.
